Help Restoring the phone

Hey guys. Im planning on exchanging my phone today. How would i go about restoring the phone so that there is nothing on there example, contacts, pictures, videos. If i delete my Motoblur account from the phone are all my contacts synced with the Motoblur account and i just log in to the new phone with it and i have all my contacts back? or how does this work?

It maybe easier to just do a hard reset. Settings -> Privacy -> "Factory Data Reset"
