Help Retrieve SD Files

WTF?? My phone ran out of battery juice yesterday in the car, while using the camera and navigation. I had it plugged in to the outlet but had to use it away from the outlet a few times. Near the end of the day, it shut down a couple times. Now, though, after charging it a little while, I tried to reboot and it is in a perpetual boot loop. So, after many battery pulls and reboots from recovery, I've given up on the idea that I won't have to do a full wipe. But, I HAVE TO get the photos, at least, from the phone for what I was doing yesterday. I have the phone plugged into the PC and can access CWM Touch. The files are all there, but the PC won't recognize the phone until I boot up. How can I get those files onto my computer? Bigger question: Is there a way to prevent a full wipe at this point? If so, I was planning on upgrading my ROM at that time, anyway. I'd rather, though, get in and backup with Ti, then upgrade on my own time...not when the technology wants to screw me.

Thanks for the help.

No replies and Verizon had me scared I'd lose everything if I did a full wipe. Since I took the photos right when the phone crapped out on me, I never backed up. But, thankfully, Google backs up everything. So, even with a full wipe, I still have my photos.

I think a full wipe leaves the SD partition alone.

Also do you happen to have the photos set up to automatically upload to G+? You can set it up like that. Then if anything happens to your phone you still have the photos on the web.

I don't have them saved to G+, yet. I just noticed I couldn't get the photos on the G+ site on the PC. But, Google backs up everything for me anyway, so I was able to recover them.

Good to know you solved your problem. Just in case for anyone that doesn't use G+ (like me)...

I booted into CWM, mounted the data and system. With my phone connected to the computer, I used Android Commander to navigate through to the appropriate directory and retrieved my files.

So, you CAN access your files without the phone booted up?

Thanks for that . Interesting. My next question would be: Why the hell do the Verizon techs not know that? And why did they not know that the internal SD card on the Nexus would be treated like an external drive; subsequently not being erased in the event of a factory reset. All the anxst for nothing!

Yes, you can access the files without booting the phone. However, this requires root access and this is something VZW does not support. This might explain why the VZW techs does not know about this or can recommend it.

I'll have to keep that in mind for next time and get that app, as I am rooted.

Techs should still know that..IMHO.
