Return DINC 4G to Verizon for Let's Talk deal?

geoffd

Newbie
I'm pretty pissed that I picked up the DINC 4G at a Verizon store on 7/5 for $150 ($50 mail-in rebate) and now see that Let'sTalk has it for $19.99 after DROID20... I believe its worth returning it to the store, paying the $35 restocking fee and buying from Let's Talk. Does anyone know if I'll get the $30 new service activation fee back if I do this? Has anyone had any success with Verizon doing some kind of price match to Let's Talk?

Thanks!!!

I complained to VZW about it and got a $50 bill credit. It doesn't get me all the way down to $19.99 (or even close, really), but it is enough to keep from going through all the hassle of returning and re-buying the phone.

Give them a call, the worst they can do is say no.

Although to be fair there are a large # of companies who have reports on that site.

People can be very vocal when things go wrong, but very silent when they go right.

I've no experience of LetsTalk myself and therefore offer no opinion on them - just that there's more to a company's reputation than that website.

For example the company that provides our security is there with multiple complaints - however I've never had a problem with them - in fact a few years ago they called and offered to reduce our monthly bill with no strings attached. We're still paying less now than we did three years ago. However there are folk on Ripoff Report who feel they have been swindled, nickeled and dimed by them...

By all means consider that in your decision but I'd not base it on that alone. Checking the BBB for their record there can also be helpful.

Best Buy has the phone for $99. I also had a $50 credit with them if I upgrade my phone before December 2012. Picked the Inc4G up yesterday for $49+tax. No $30 Verizon charge. 14 days to return it and go back to original plan and 30 return policy.

I don't think there's any way around the $30 VZW charge. I am guessing that'll show up on your bill.

That is because Best Buy is a resale place. My local resale place also does not charge the $30 upgrade fee, however when you ask them they will tell you that Verizon will add this $30 fee to your next bill. It is a Verizon charge not a resale place charge...

I just got off the phone with Verizon and they're giving me a $40 billing credit. Just like hilmar2k, this doesn't give me the greatest deal but will save me from the hassle of return and purchase...

Buying from verizon is always the most expensive. Hell amazon usually has it much cheaper at launch. This is common knowledge verizon will always be the most expensive.

Call Verizon and tell them your receipt says to call and get a credit for the activation fee. Mine did. I got a $30 credit.

What did you guys say to get a credit for letstalk? My Verizon customer service person was rude and said they don't price match. The end.

If I can get VZW to give me any additional credits that would be awsome because I just sold my Original Incredible (Yes the very first one) for $95 on eBay.

Yep, you are correct. The resale stores do not charge the $30 upgrade fee, that is a Verizon charge. I checked into this, if you get a phone from say Best Buy, the $30 upgrade fee will be on your bill. These stores will also not tell you that unless you ask.

I did get Best Buy to take $30 off the $99 price because of the upgrade fee. They did it as soon as I started asking about the upgrade fee...they said it goes on your bill but we'll take $30 off the price. I said sold!!
