Well, I have had the GB OTA for quite a while now and just the other day I started getting random reboots! :mad:

Since I have had the OTA for quite some time, I do not believe it is related to that. I have updated a few other apps in the meantime and would love to find the culprit and eradicate it from py phone.

Anyone have suggestions on how I can find the sucker & kill it?

In thinking about what I have updated, I'd say the program I have the most suspicion of is Lookout Security. Anyone else have Lookout & been getting random reboots recently?

I have lookout, but its never caused any problems... If you do suspect it, try uninstalling it and see if the reboots cease.

You were right, Lookout was not the culprit.

Anyone know of an easier way to figure out what is causing the problem than to just start uninstalling things & hope it goes away?

I may have to resort to that, but I'm lazy. :p
 
i have lookout but no reboots. i did get ONE reboot though prior to update. dont know if i had look out when it happened tho
 
Mine was good for like the first week after the update, but then it came back. some days it's fine, others will shut off multiple times. It shutdown twice on me today already, and battery pull is the only fix (if only the cover weren't such a PITA to take off).

Other than that, I've not had any other issues, in fact, it's been a great piece of machinery. Saw folks complain about ring tones being off for caller ID, all my contacts are set to default ringtone, so the issue doesn't apply to me.
 
Others have reported reboots since the GB OTA update. So that may indeed be the culprit even if you didn't have any for the first week. They are rather random.
 
My reboots all seem to be centered around a silly game I'm playing, "Rock The Vegas."

Every time it reboots I am in the game.
 
LOL you must play that game a lot then. Mine has never shut off while on in my hands. I'll look away (or pi it in my pocket) and let it go to sleep, look back at my phone, press power button lightly to wake it up and nothing. I jam on the power button and still nothing.

My depowering seems to not be associated with any particular app - completely random.

One thing I did notice is battery domes feels warm when pulling. But never over warm or hot.
 
My TBolt has begun experiencing random reboots again. I was going to do a hard reset to see if that solved it but I'm not sure yet.
 
Just so everyone knows, I have never had a reboot since rooting, but had them before rooting. That was in July.
 
I've been having random reboots, most of the time, when i'm not using it. I had one time I was in a meeting, and my phone has that stupid splash screen thunder sound. these reboots are pissing me off. good thing the meeting wasn't with important people...
 
Well, mine has stopped having them (I hope I don't jinx myself). I went ahead and removed the battery and SIM card for about 5 minutes, restarted the phone, and have been reboot-free since. I have no clue why but I am not complaining!
 
My Thunderbolt has slowly been getting worse with the reboots. A few every now and then has gone to several a day and now ive had 3 in the past 15 minutes. Really getting bad.
 
When the battery is too hot, or streaming during signal changes do seem to increase reboots, signal (radio type and tower) changes and HTC sense errors seem to be the leading precursors to reboots in my case.

I started having the dreaded random daily back to back reboots after the Gingerbread OTA, when I'd only had two before that over six months. After being home for winter holidays my phone has only rebooted once while I prepare for factory reset. I haven't been using netflix and I've been uninstalling apps and updating apps. This combination seems to have at least decreased the frequency.

Personally, given that this issue isn't unique to Tbolts, I think Tbacker's Razr theory is valid that it is related to flaky radio code and the Verizon's 4G network still being somewhat BETA as he clarifies at Razr owners who HAVEN'T had (or solved) random reboots? - Page 4 - Android Forums at AndroidCentral.com . This also matches up with what one of the Verizon techs I've talked to confirming radio connectivity tower changes as being a factor that meaning even if there is nothing wrong with my Tbolt, I could still experience the issue.
I feel the fact that rooting seems to solve the issue for others to be another good supporter of this theory. Of course the rooters/hackers can manage a reliable version of the radio code, while the officially supported lags behind.

It looks my only options is to keep trying until I get lucky or switch to iPhone for real phone/txt/camera reliability, until this technology matures or void my warranty to see if that helps. :(
