Help Returned itself to factory setting

So a couple days ago, I charged my phone overnight by linking it into my laptop because I didn't have enough outlets. It said it was connected and everything and I went to sleep. When I woke up, my phone had died but the red light was flashing. I charged it directly to the wall and it started up normally. After about an hour, I checked on it and found it had reset itself to factory settings. I had lost all of my contacts and my apps, even though the icon still existed. It sucked but I didn't really care. It'll be annoying to replace but not impossible. My pictures survived because, I'm assuming, they're not on the hard drive. However, I'm trying to set an alarm and now every time I try to change the ringtone, I'm being forced to force quit the Clock app. Which is not okay. Any ideas about what happened or what I should do?

If your laptop went to sleep during the charge, it would of drained your battery quicker. However this situation doesnt make any sense of why this would happen but i would suggest doing another system restore manually to correct things. Worse comes to worse, root your ally and find a custom rom your enterested in.
