returned my atrix 3 weeks in and got a HTC-EVO

I tether a lot so speed was my main problem. I returned the atrix, cancelled my contract and went to sprint...My only concern was if I should have got a thunderbolt on verizon....

I liked the atrix overall.

however, after having the HTC-EVO for about 24 hours this is what i have noticed.

1. not as snappy as the atrix, BUT no really decrease in performance in my opinion ( this is probably due to the processor difference of dual core vs single)

2. Voice talk of both myself and person I am talking to is clearer on the HTC-EVO

3. Screen is larger and it improves overall ease of using browser, google docs, emails etc.

4. I bought an extended battery so I havent noticed a decrease in battery life. I also now can turn off the 4g when not tethering to make my batter last longer ( I dont remember being able to do this on my atrix although it may have been possible)

5. Atrix would randomly shut down. ( its still early but as of now, no issues yet) .

6. Download speeds are much better with sprint on the evo which has clocked on speedtest as high as 7.9 megabits, and probably averages between 3-5 mbps. My atrix on att averaged 1 mps and never went above 1.5 mpbs.

7. So far I am happy, however now my gut is telling me maybe I should have gone to Verizon which some people are saying is better...

I am in the Los Angeles County Area.

thoughts ???

The upload speeds are about to get alot better with the atrix in the near future when the hspa network is in full force. There still testing it so its being throttled right now. Just wait, att can't let Verizon have such a faster network since speed is about all att has going for it.

the point of the thread is my experience of my move... pros and cons, you can comment as you like, also wether the evo on sprint was the best move or whether the thunderbolt with verizon would have been better .comment as you like.

that is all :)

oh no wait... one last thing... att is soooooooo slow....have fun waiting for the LTE....(but if it happens sooner than later i might be back :)

this thread is a waste of time, but if you REALLY want to know what everybody else thinks of your decision...

can you please tell me how i can trade my Atrix for an Evo? is there like a link or something? I would like to be first in line for this trade. Please PM me the link before everybody else gets in on this deal before me. Jesus, I just can't wait to get rid of this crappy Atrix and switch up to some Evo goodness. YES YES EVO YESSSSSSSSSSSS unleash that mf'in HTC Evo.

Sorry, I lost my mind for a moment.

idroidberry, 2010 called. they want their phone back.

That's another reason a thread like this becomes difficult. I ran multiple tests with Speakeasy last night and got over 5 Mbps down and average over 4 Mbps. In my shoes, you would've kept the Atrix, however, in your shoes, I would not. Only you can decide what is most valuable to you when it comes down to that deciding factor.

To the OP....I've owned all 3 phones you have mentioned.
Had the EVO last year.
Had the Atrix up until last week.
And I currently own the Thunderbolt.

EVO was a good phone, but it carries the older snap dragon processor, uses an older Reg LCD screen, and is running an older version of sense.

The Thunderbolt improves on everything I have mentioned, plus if you live in an Area that utilizes VZW's 4G, its an absolute no brainer that you should have gotten a Thunderbolt.
Or
If you wanted Sprint, should really be waiting for nothing else except the yet to be released EVO 3D. But that's a summer release.

As for the Atrix, I loved it! However at&t is Terrible and has done nothing but lie to its customers about bogus 4G.. the phone is turtle slow running on its H+, which is no more then they're already bogged down 3G network.

I'd have to say YES, you should have gotten a Thunderbolt at this moment in time.

just curious as to why you would choose thunderbolt over evo.

anyone in LA area have a thunderbolt that can comment on download speeds?

That was my deal breaker with att....I now have 28 days in which I can switch to verizon...

its called cancelling your contract within the first 30 days.

despite it being a year old...it still is my favorite overall....I think its hard to pull something the atrix has over it...other than the dual core which really did not make a huge impact in my performance.

The EVO is almost a year old, its using an older snapdragon processor, while the TB is using something a little newer. The EVO uses a Reg LCD , while the TB has a super LCD. Honestly the TB is an Animal because most of all its running on a true 4G network with Verizon. The speeds are incredible, and with the EVO 3D coming very soon, I'm not sure I would opt for a phone almost a year old.

Thread gets+ 1 for comedy but- 2 for content. Could have earned another point on comedy if the op also cross posted the same thread in the evo forum

Yeah I have an EVO for work crap only and just got the atrix, while I was initially impressed with the evo, the atrix runs circles around the evo, which blew away the iphone I had previously. I was only getting in the 1mbs down and .150mbs up on the evo but on the atrix I get 2-3mbs down and .750mbs up and that is only going to go up once the patch is released.

Over all I have to say this is probably the best phone on the market and rumor is that this phone is what helped push the iphone 5 back a few months for tweaking, unless they allow external memory I have no idea how apple thinks they are beating this phone. IMO, the iphone will be a memory in a year or two if devices like this keep coming out with android OS.

Oh and in the week I have had the atrix I have yet to experience a shut down.
