Returned VM Evo V

That's it. I have had it. I just returned the VM Evo V to Radio Shack for a full refund.

I only had 30 days for a guaranteed full refund with them and after a week of not getting/sending texts, 0 to 1 bars, and lack of support from VM, I had enough.

I am pretty sure its a Virgin Mobile service problem and not the phone. But, I need to be able to send/receive texts and calls.

Just bought a Samsung Galaxy S2 for $170 more on ebay for T-mobile. I already have a T-mobile Exhbit II which works fine with 4G, calls/text.

Just don't have the patience to wait for fixes anymore, I want something that works out of the box from day 1.

Sorry it didn't work for ya. Mine is working excellently! Took returning one, but the one that I have now is awesome.

Don't post this in the phone forum, post it somehwere where VM will actually read it. It is not a phone issue, it is a carrier issue. you swapped from tmobile to VM which they use completely different networks. of course things will be different.

I believe it's important that folks post their experiences with this phone and Virgin Mobile's service here in the forum, good or bad. Although I can't sympathize with you regarding your experiences, it is a bummer that it's not working as it should.

You don't have to give your exactly location, but if you wouldn't mind at least mentioning some greater region, your post would become far more helpful to anyone reading it.

Nice, you will be pleased with the GSII. I once too called it my baby, but the soup it fell into was too much for it to handle. Oops!

Dear God please don't go with metro. I'm with them now and its hell. Selling My phone now to go back to virgin mobile. At least on virgin you don't get text 4 days later

Wrong, I have 4 cell phones. 3 are Virgin Mobile one is Tmobile.

All three Virgin Mobiles send/receive text/cell perfectly.

I swapped out one of VM phones with the Virgin Mobile Evo V and that is where the problem started.

Can't get text/cell messages. Voice mail doom, etc.

Swapped back to the old VM phone and it works perfectly.

So this is a phone issue.

Location: DC Metro Area - lots of cell towers and coverage.

Well that's right and it's wrong. While it is an issue with the Evo it's not the fault of the phone itself, it's Virgin's difficulty with getting it properly provisioned on their service. Hence the difficulties ppl are having with activation, voicemail, texts, ect. They have never had to deal with a 4G device before and as is painfully obvious to some they did not adequately prepare for this device in advance.

There were lots of similar issues with the optimus V when it first came out, I was an early adopter and I had tons of internet issues at first, they took a while to smooth out but eventually that phone was badass. I personally have had barely any issues at all with the Evo V, a couple errors sending text messages but they always retry and send by themselves, so I haven't worried about it at all. They just have to iron out the kinks of the new phone and it will be great.

Unfortunately since VM is a cheaply priced service they don't put the amount of testing beforehand like Sprint would do, so us early adopters of the phones get to "beta test" the phones for them while they work out the kinks in the background.

Yep, that's why I have the avatar I do. It was the message of death when your data stopped working. People were having to toggle data and reboot the phone constantly. Eventually VM figured it out and I never had a problem again.

Wow, that's too bad. I'm loving my phone. I just brought it to one of my friend's house, who owns the HTC Evo 3D, and pretty much compared them. He had his rooted, but I'm planning to do my as soon as something easy comes up.

Too bad.
