Returning Nexus today

I am just another Samsung sucker that waited for 2 months for the Nexus just too be utterly disgusted with the horrid reception and poor battery life. I am leaning towards the Rezound. I'm also considering the Razr due to the fact that I like Otterboxes and I think the Rezound in a Otterbox might be too huge.

If I thought the Nexus could be updated and have a lot better reception I would keep it, but if it really has the same radio as the Charge there's no way it will improve enough.

Samsung should just stick to making screens and processors.

I wonder how wide a Razr would be in an otterbox.

I don't know why I see comments about the size of the Rezound. I know we have the razr and nexus to compare it to, but I think the HTC is the perfect size and weight, unless you have girlie hands. :p

I have my Rezound in an Otterbox and I only pack it in the Otterbox when I'm on the go. When I connect it to my PC or am charging it, I skin it. I don't have to have the Holster connected to the phone to carry it around but if I need to, I can always carry it around in the holster. Here's some pics I took of it next to my old Thunderbolt in its case. http://androidforums.com/3480165-post53.html

I like the otterbox on my rezound. Keeps my 2 year old from destroying it lol

I'm 5'6" and have short fingers and the size of the rezound doesn't bother me one bit.

I have the commuter otterbox on my Rezound, It makes it a little bit bigger, but nothing like the Defender did. I can deal with a little bulk over a scuffed up phone

lol I guess I never thought of that, I was just thinking how thin the Otterbox would be. The Razr always felt cumbersome to hold, I wonder if the Otterbox would make it more comfortable though...I don't think one handed operation would be easy.

Why the heck can't I get used to the size of the the Rezound then? It's not the size of your hand... It's a mindset. If you want to like it you will...

Ever heard of Darwin? ;) J/k

Nothing to do with the phone but I do think that we as humans have gotten really too used to making our environment adapt to us that when we have to adapt to our environment we get disappointed and lazy.

Back to the phone. If you don't like it then take it back and get another one. It's your money and if I didn't like the rezound I wouldn't walk around with it for another 2 years thinking about how much I hate it.

Ya.. I did, I went back to my Inc for now... I was just disapointed, because I really wanted to like it, but I could not get used to the size. I am 5'11" and have plenty big enough hands... Your right, I was not going to walk around with it for the next 2 years feeling stuck. Don't know what else to even upgrade to if I can't get used to the Rezound..:(

I was honestly expecting the phone to feel much bigger than it did based on the pictures. I was surprised how well it felt in my hand. I have the extended battery on it now and it is a little too thick for my liking, but the trade off of having a phone that easily makes it through the day with battery to spare is worth it to me.

Actually unless you are a heavy user you should be able to make it through the work day no problem. I started out as a heavy user when it was new to me, then became a medium to light user(a few calls, decent amount of texting, video chat, some internet and videos) and battery life is not really an issue at all. This is from yesterday's use.

When your eyesight starts going like mine has over the past couple of years, you'll appreciate the better visibility a larger screen offers (though this was truer for the Thunderbolt because of its lower resolution). Suddenly I was willing to consider something a little bigger if it meant I could just glance at my phone instead of glancing and squinting, LOL.
On the other hand, my son is ecstatic with his hand-me-down Dinc, loves that size and thinks mine is too big... Unless he wants to play a game, that is.

Another thing about the Otterbox (the defender series that is), a lot of people have complained that the power button and the volume rocker are a PITA to push in. The Otterbox does a good job of alleviating that issue via its rubber buttons.

just out of curiosity, what was it you didn't like? what made you trade it in?

I believe he said he couldn't get used to to the 4.3 inch screen. He was coming from a 3.8 inch I think. I'm not sure what he's gonna do though since that or bigger is pretty much the new standard.

I, too, am having trouble with the rezound. With the original incredible I could use it one handed. I hold on the bottom with three fingers on the left and type with my thumb. With the rezound I ether have to use two hands or balance it on my pinky. The weight on the One finger hurts and the corner in my Palm numbs my hand. If I use two hands it isn't too bad but I miss the compactness.

I am thinking incredible 2 as it narrower and shorter. But I am going to see if I can get use to the bigger phone.

I one hand the Rez with my short fingers.... no problem. Little finger on the bottom and three fingers behind... thumb typing. Everyone is different though.

Thanks for the input. Good to know I am using it the same way. I also I have to move the phone up and down to reach from top to bottom. Kinds bugs me.

It really is quite a jump up in size from the Inc. Wish Verizon had a smaller 4g phone.

Have you tried the extended battery and battery case? People claim the lip on the back makes it easier to handle. I personally don't like how it makes the phone look, but to each his/her own I guess...

Function over form. Our need to have small sleek devices is arbitrary and if we're honest, not very practical. The added heft and width of the extended battery & cover does make it a lot easier to use. Then you have the whole "lasting all day with heavy use" thing.

What is the best online source for the extended batteries? I'm going to try my local Verizon store and Best Buy Mobile, but if that fails...
