Bionic is the best phone Verizon has right now, but it's the first phone I've seen that will get blown out of the water within 2 months of its release.



Dude, no. My dad's Thunderbolt still hasn't gotten Gingerbread, and Ice Cream Sandwich is going to release in the next month. Not getting an update for a year after the OS release is NOT "second to none", unless by "second to none" you actually mean second to "no updates", which would be true.



Sorry dude. But every other post on this forum is about returning the stupid thing. Glitches include dropping 4G and 3G, with an update not coming til November (there's that "second to none" thing again), a high pitched whine on music playback, PenTile display (which I won't even get into), quarter HD when every phone coming out starting in October will be full HD, washed out pictures on a crappy camera, dude the list goes on.

This thread, called "Returning the Bionic" should be called "Coming to My Senses".

Real quick, the thunderbolt is made by HTC not Moto. So if the Vigor comes out with Gingerbread and not ICS, expect it not to be updated for several months.

And you're last paragraph is exaggerated, IMO.

Lol, probably. One's loss is another person's gain. I love EBAY! Wait until the Vigor gets released. You'll see the same threads that you see here in the Bionic forums. Because right around the corner will be the Prime...and then the Droid HD.

You don't see many threads in the Thunderbolt forums right now about people wanting to return it, do you?

Eventually those who have and like the Bionic will stay, and those who don't? Be happy with whatever you get.

Totally agree. There's just an influx of new tech coming out so attrition rates for the Bionic and future phones will probably be higher than normal. That's why I agreed that alot of used Bionics will be on ebay but it will probably go to owners who actually want and like the Bionic. And who knows the price of the Bionic will probably go down too which would make it even more competitive through the next few months.
Just like the Thunderbolt, I would still recommend that phone for the right price to anyone who asks my opinion.

I agree with Tehsusenoh, new tech is always better than old tech.

I got a $749.99 laptop (same price as my old one that was only a year and a half old), which has a better processor, better GPU, better screen, better battery, better everything.

There is always something better coming out.

Probably not. I got what I wanted from the bionic but I said the same thing when I got the Droid 3. I have one more upgrade on my account and still a couple months left on my exchange period so time will tell.

The ones who used an upgrade earlier this year will probably be the recipients of these peanut priced bionics. The life cycle of the bionic isn't looking too shabby.

it's not foolish, it's genius. Apple will release the iPhone 5 without 4G, all the apply fans will buy it by the millions, and then six months later when atleast verizons 4G is pretty much everywhere, apple will release the iPhone 5 4G and all those apply fans will sell their iPhone 5's on ebay or give them to their wives/kids and go buy the iPhone 5 4G by the millions....

This is especially true if they release it on Sprint (which is pretty much expected at this point). I'd think Apple would want to have a consistent user experience among the three carriers.
Anyway, I do agree; them not going with 4G compatibility is just dumb.

I don't think it's dumb. Apple doesn't sacrifice user experience just to have the latest technology in their phone. As it stand right now, the LTE antenna is both huge and inefficient. Apple won't sacrifice the increased thickness they would have to add just to fit the radio inside and they won't sacrifice the battery the LTE chipsets burn through at this time. Also, if you look at every 4G phone released to date, there is a mile long thread on each respective devices support forums discussing various 4G issues, be it intermittent signal, 4G disappearing for no reason, devices having trouble switching between 3G/4G, etc. That's not a good user experience, which is what Apple is all about.
