Help Reversed Colors

zds

Newbie
I have a Galaxy Note 1 phone with Android 4.1.2
Today for some reason all the screen colours are reversed (white is now black, red is now blue etc). It seems to function OK apart from not using SwiftKey despite this keyboard app being selected.
It's very annoying however.

If I do a battery pull the idle screen comes up in normal colours but if I open a home screen, the colours reverse after a second or two - and they stay reversed when I go back to the idle screen.

I'm considering a factory reset but need to know if the "data" it wipes out includes my 570 client contacts and installed apps?
(I synch with the PC's Outlook contacts and backup using M o b i s y n a p s e).

I would be grateful if anyone could give me info on this.

Hey there

I've moved your post from the s3 forum into its own thread here in the OG Note's forum.

It sounds like for the colors you may be experiencing some hardware malfunction. Before making a reset, I would have it taken into a shop to have it looked it.

However if you want to reset anyway, it would wipe everything off of the device as if you just opened it out of the box brand new. All of your apps, data, sms, mms etc will be wiped off.

Erk!

Thanks for that info, it's appreciated.
If it's hardware, a reset probably wouldn't do much.
Perhaps I should put up with it for a while as I need it badly for my work, and look into getting a Note 2 when the prices drop after Note 3 is launched.

Right, if it is hardware you'd just be wasting your time resetting it.

As I mentioned above, without getting a new phone, your best option is having your carriers tech look at it and see if there is anything they can do. Probably not though.

Thanks again.
My carrier hasn't any techs in my location that I'm aware of, and I'm sure the problem is embedded in the motherboard, meaning not worthwhile repairing.
As the phone is still basically functional and the apps still usable, I think can put up with it for a while until I get a Note 2.
I might even splash out for a new Note 3.
