Root reverting back

I played around on the UOT kitchen today, and have a zip file to flash to modify a few things.
If it turns out I don't like the changes, how can I revert back to where things are at this moment?
Would I do a nandroid restore, or just the files that changed?

Just do a nandroid backup before you flash anything and then then restore if you wish to go back to how the phone was.

Turns out that the boot animation part didnt 'take' when I flashed it to my phone :-(
Does this happen frequently, that parts work, others dont? Would re-flashing the same file be of any use, or not bother, and just go back to UOT and start over?
Oh, and I assume I dont need to restore in between each new flash?
TIA

Hi, i'm not really sure how the kitchen works, but find a boot animation over in xda you like and place it in data/local, see if that works.

I had that happen to me once, i just did it whole process again, got the Boot animation then found out i didn't even like it!
