AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note II Review

AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note II Review - YouTube

Looks like MultiView is still missing on the AT&T Galaxy Note 2

It's not a very good review. Taylor harps on the fact that the ATT Note 2 doesn't have multi-tasking and then goes on to say that it's not coming to the phone "for the foreseeable future."

How the heck does he know?...LOL. He would've been just as correct saying, "it's likely Samsung will release a software update in the foreseeable future." Either way, it's just a projection and a guess.

One thing I look out for, whenever I'm looking at reviews, is the reviewer injecting their personal opinions without backing up the information with fact. These reviewers need to do their reviews and if they add their personal opinions, state that it's their opinion...otherwise, they're just mis-informing the consumers.

Just wanted to add. Sprint version is getting updated with multi-tasking, as reported in several different threads and articles. Soooo...another reason why it was WAY too premature to mislead consumers into thinking the ATT version wouldn't get it. There's still no timeframe of when, but it's been 2 weeks since the Sprint version was released, so I think the right thing for him to do would've been to wait for comment on that until the ATT version had been fully launched and readily available.

Interesting review. The price for the 920 seems ridiculously cheap. They are obviously determined to claw back their share of the market.

looking at the specs for the 920.. and the $99 with new contract.
specs are for a mid-level. I would think the price is about right for a mid-level phone.
the off-contract price of $445.. is a good price.

i just dont see how they would compete with the eco sys of Andy and IOS.
i would think.. most will wait for their apps market to grow before they can get a share of the general smartphone market. kind of a catch 22.

MS needs to entice/pay the devs to create apps for them... they will have to spend $$ to make it happen.

bring some huge connection for productivity with work computing to mobile on the go. the business sector.. is a gold mind.. but they have to hurry. before the others come up with a good solution.

they also have leverage the Xbox market...create a synergy for gamers. that might be their 2nd biggest card of their sleeve.

I agree - the Nokia 920 seems attractively priced @ $49

How about that 8 month old Windows Phone 7.5 version (Nokia 900) for only $0.49 cents
Nokia Lumia 900 - White - (Refurbished) cell phone from AT&T

They must think folks are living under a rock.
Review Microsoft's poor track record with Windows Phone OS updates for prior hardware releases since these were first released to the public in 2010

For past three years now, each fall season, Microsoft releases yet another "new" Windows phone - while alienating all the pre-existing user base with ZERO chance of an OS Upgrade for last years hardware.

Steve Balmer fails miserably at emulating Steve Jobs Reality Distortion Field, IMHO.

The fact is, after three years of trying to sell us Windows Phones, they barely have any third part support for apps in the Windows Phone App store

They are so self absorbed they only released the Windows 8 phone SDK a few weeks ago.

And each time I visit an AT&T store, they have a Nokia 900 sitting there with no buyers, and the Windows Phone Home screen is literally burned into the LCD, with a ghost image everywhere you navigate.

can you tell I have zero interest?

LOL...I was never convinced they'd figure it out, after leaving Windows mobile for Android and hearing the Microsoft was completely scrapping Windows mobile to re-vamp their Phone offerings completely...After a couple years, I'm still not convinced.

My experience with the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 after a week has been a delight!

Cons: I'm still trying to hit the power button on the top right spot. Coming from the HTC Evo 4G, I'm used to hitting the power button with my index finger and the volume rocker with my thumb. At least for me, it would have made more sense to switch the power button and the volume rocker. That way I still would hit the power button with my index finger and adjust the volume control with my thumb.

Pros: Oh my God! What a phone! All my gripes with my old phone is no where to be found in the GN2. Battery life has been exemplary, 4G data is everywhere (I'm in the greater Houston area). And no more juggling apps because of low memory issues. Apart from the 16 GB phone storage, I also have an extra 64 GB of storage with the micro SD card I bought. And though battery life it's not an issue, I know I won't be worried if there comes a time where I might need the replaceable battery capabilities, either because of a fast paced trip or when I just need a new battery.

Wishlist: I won't put this on the cons part of my review simply because this phone has just been released and who knows what we'll find in the near future, but I do hope someone will manufacture a car dock this not only connect my phone to a charger, but connects it to my car stereo as well. I mean the moment I connect it to a car dock. I really hate to connect the power cord and aux out manually.

Overall, I'm happy I chose this phone. But I do have to still unlearn some habits I have using the HTC Evo 4G for almost two and a half years.

In my brief Note 2 test at a Sprint store on release day, and coming from Evo's like you, the power button location I would pretty much never get used to - in my opinion it is in a terrible ergonomic location and that is not just because I'm not used to it.

I was happy to find that the phone can be woken by using the physical home button on the front of the phone. Besides the top of the phone, the front is a much more easy and convenient location than the sides. I quickly realized if I ever get the Note 2 (32/64GB or bust!) that would be my new power on button. For power off, I generally let the screen time out, or I would be looking for an application/hack to relocate a power off shortcut.

While it may not be a media outlet or blog this guy did a pretty good review of the Note 2 and he shows us something that I've never noticed before "the rocking while typing issue". (at time index 3:28)

Check it out.

Very valid point on the rocking, especially coming from my Droid X. However, how many other phones do this? I'd suspect any HTC with the huge camera protrusions and even the new DNA is a curved back. I don't think many people type will it lays flat. They will always hold it. However, I do eat my breakfast cereal at the table with the phone flat typing out stuff just like the video. Might be annoying.
