Hi,
noob to rooting but getting ready to flash my dog slow Vodafone ICS...

Will the latest version of Revolutionary S-OFF work with ICS?

I read that it didn't used to and can't find any info that says it will work for sure :confused:
 
No, just unlocks the bootloader.

So you can still flash stuff, but not change CID (and some other stuff I suspect).

Ok, would that explain when I tried to install ClockworkMod Recovery, (Bootloader says unlocked) but PG58IMG.zip says parsing file, then 'no image or wrong image' ? :confused:
 
Instead of using the PB58IMG, just extract the .img file from the zip and use fastboot. That will work (cos I did it yesterday) and it's quicker all round anyway :D

You're doing fastboot wrong by the sounds of it ;)

You don't put the .img file on your SD card, you flash it via your PC with the fastboot command, like so:

fastboot flash recovery recovery-clockwork-touch-5.8.0.9-pyramid.img

You'll see a progress bar (very breifly) on your phones fastboot screen, then you're done.

I'm a trier :p

I was following this XDA guide:

1. Download recovery v5.0.0.8 for the Sensation HERE: or Multiupload
2. Copy the PG58IMG file into the Root folder of your SD card (The main Folder of your Memory Card)
3. Turn off your phone FUlly and reboot into the Bootloader/HBOOT screen (see post above on how to get to hboot screen)
4. Press Volume up to Accept when it asks" Do you want to start the update"
5. Press Power Off to Reboot back to android after installation is successful (normal screen with homescreen)
6. Delete PG58IMG from your memory card and you can now root using step 3 below or install a custom ROM using CWM (Customs Roms are already rooted)

But I'll try the fastboot CLI method you suggested now ;)
 
Rusty you are a star (and very patient :p), got a backup running now prior to permanently rooting with su-2.3.6.3-ef-signed.zip

I have a stock Vodafone ICS ROM currently that I got as an OTA to the stock Vodafone Gingerbread that the phone came with, would you recommend i do a 'wipe cache partition' or 'wipe data/reset' before going for a custom ROM?

(I'm intend to put on Virtuous Inquisition v4.0.1)
 
That guide is right for the PG58IMG.zip method, but since that doesn't work, it's CLI time :D

Just wipe data/factory reset will be fine, cache clears itself when you change ROMs.
