Rezound $149 at Amazon

From AmazonWireless FAQ page:

I need a new phone, but my line isn't eligible for an upgrade. Another line in my family account is eligible. Can I get a new phone for my line by using the upgrade of the other line in my family account?
While carriers may offer the option to swap upgrades between different lines on the same family account, this option isn't available through AmazonWireless. Phones purchased from AmazonWireless must remain on the line upgraded for 181 days. If you move the device to an alternate line within the first 181 days, you'd be subject to additional charges by AmazonWireless of up to $250 (per phone), plus applicable taxes.

Has anyone found a way around this? I'd very much like to save myself $100 by getting the phone through Amazon instead of Verizon, but my line isn't currently eligible for the upgrade.

Just bought the Rezound on Amazon late last night (this morning)- as soon as I was able to upgrade. I was contemplating whether to stick with my Thunderbolt for another several months or jump on the best phone available now. In the end, I knew this upgrade would be burning a hole in my pocket early next year. It was either now or likely wait until April or May.

I was considering the Galaxy Nexus, but the positive reviews on the Rezound reminded me of the original and great Droid Incredible that I previously owned. Although I wanted to upgrade to the best phone regardless of price, the lowest upgrade price I saw for the GN was $239.99. Anyway, I am sticking with HTC and getting the best phone out right now for half its launch price. :D

Well I did not read that before ordering my phone through Amazon Wireless yesterday. My Verizon account shows that my primary line(me) is eligible for a discounted price but also shows that it will be eligible for another upgrade in about 6 months(weird and I don't know why). The problem was that Amazon could not "see" that the primary line was eligible for an upgrade and only said that it would be eligible at the later date. One of my family plan lines was eligible for an upgrade as well so I decided to upgrade that line through Amazon.

I'll find out if I have to send the phone back or if I will be able to work things out with Verizon and Amazon. The thing is that in my situation, Verizon sees both lines as eligible while Amazon only sees the one that I upgraded. If successful, I will post my story, If not I'll just send it back and get it from the Verizon site.

When you log into your verizon account and click the "get upgrade status" you can transfer your upgrade to another phone. Does that help?

Nope, just tried that and Amazon still pulls the "real" upgrade date from my line.

And unfortunately, the Rezound is now backordered (2-5 wks) on Amazon anyway.

Thanks, I'll be interested to see how this works out for you. Fingers crossed! :)

Ok, here is the sad story(happy ending):

Good news first! My Amazon Wireless phone came a day early!

Bad news: I called Verizon Tech support and they confirmed my fear that they could not do anything because of the AW terms of service.

Then I went to the local Verizon store and they told me that "we can make it work" but that I would probably be charged by AW any fees associated with prematurely moving the phone to a different line. No way am I paying $250.

I called Amazon Wireless and they confirmed yet again that I can not do anything to move the phone over without paying. However the AW support guy seemed the best at customer service out of all the people I talked to. He emailed me a shipping label at no charge and I will not have to pay any additional fees and my line upgrade will be reset.

I just ordered a Rezound from the Verizon Wireless website. The guy at the Verizon store that I talked to said my main line was only eligible for an early upgrade and that I would have to pay an extra $30 to do that (price:$329.99). When I ordered it online, not only was there no early upgrade fee, the price was only $249.99. Don't know what happened there (I even asked the Verizon store guy if it was New Every 2 pricing and he said it was not).

The happy ending is that I did not have to pay any additional fees to correct my scewup and that I'll soon have my phone!
