Root Ridiculous 2.2 issue, what can I do?

Well, I installed it. And well, my home button doesn't work. Yeah, I'm serious.

I know the button itself works because when I'm in the update thing and I press it, 2 dots pop up. But it won't work in the OS. So what do I do? Any ideas?

Going back to 2.1 isn't working. I try the SBF, and I get stuck in a bootloop.

If you're flashing back to 2.1 from 2.2, you must also boot into the stock recovery and wipe your data and cache. This will get you out of the boot loop.

As far as your home button not working, did you restore Launcher Pro from a back up or something? I had issues when I did that. Reinstalling it from scratch via the Market took care of that.

Will doing a factory reset make me lose root? I have my 2.2 rooted, but I am seeing that the fix for some of the issues people are having with 2.2 is to do a data/cache wipe. Do I have to reinstall/move files back to \system after the wipe?

I have been getting mixed information on this topic, and want to make sure I can still restore from backup with TI.

Factory reset worked, thanks a hell of a lot blu. I was pretty pissed, thought I was stuck with it haha.

Sorry sodaboy, I never bothered to look into the bootloop issue. Just figured I couldn't go back. Thanks for that bit of info.

There have been thousands of posts today and it is pretty hard to navigate and look for your specific issue in another thread. Search function is great in theory, but doesn't help a lot when looking for something this specific.

No need to show frustration when you're going to help him anyway. Thanks for helping him and just know that it really is appreciated by the people who need it. This is a great forum to come to and ask for help, no need to change that or get all worked up because someone has an issue that another person brought up earlier.

A straight up factory reset should not cause loss of root.
