Help Ringer/notification sounds not going through headphones

Hi All,

Currently all my android OS sounds refuse to play though my plugged in headphones and was hoping to find a solution for this.

Similar threads led me to mixed results; half of them had no responses and one of them indicated this is a on-going bug with android phones.

I've gone though all the settings that i can easily find, looked for apps on the market place and all to no avail.

My problem is although i can listen to FM radio via my head phones (with the screen turned off) when the phone rings or any notifications that happen in the background like a new e-mail via the gmail app occur, the sound plays through the phone speaker instead.

Which you can obviously gather is highly annoying as i don't want my phone to disturb the people around me at work so i'm forced to keep the phone in silent mode during the day.

My old nokia N79 never had this problem, strange that a new far superior technological piece of kit like the SG2 would have such a glaring omission or am i just being dense?

ah, i had this same problem too. correction, i still have it. it seems to be an android problem, not just this phone. the only option is to do wat ur already doing, keep it on silent. if anyone has a better solution, i'd love to hear it :D its a very annoying issue
 
Yeah there are a few niggling problems with the Android OS they seem to not be addressing at all.

This is one of them.

The other one is that my ringer keeps activating its self despite the fact i keep turning it off, it's well annoying!

In my opinion, Android is far from perfect but it's a much better alternative to Apple!

I just wish they would address problems that are reported, hell this topic is over 3 months old now.

I have the exact same problem. Annoying the hell out of me...
I could have sworn it use to work.
Could it have been an update that screwed it up? Or a app? Who knows....

First time I noticed it was when using the official Samsung Car dock.
I did try the jack plug to check if the problem applied to the jack plug aswell, same problem.
So both jack plug and dock plug have the same issue.
Again, I could have sworn it used to work when the phone was new...

I hope this gets adressed soon, I mean, whats the point in having a dock station in the car, when calls and notifications come out of the phones speaker instead of the car audio system...

I really hope this is a software issue, not a hardware issue.
