I'm baffled by what has ensued after a soft reset of my HTC Wildfire S. I had done the reset after finding that I could not connect to the internet for no apparent reason.
On rebooting a block appeared on the screen with the words Ringer Volume and showing this was set to full volume. This was accompanied by an audible ding.
This disappears but reappears intermittently. Rebooting has not made the problem go away. Apart from that, the phone seems to be functioning normally.
However, this is both annoying and baffling. There is nothing in the sound settings to cause the problem.
