ive recently just downloaded rings extended and am having a issue with it ive selected to play a song for my text message but it still plays the default alert im not sure where i went wrong

That's not a very helpful answer.....

I changed mine by downloading a ringtone maker and editing the songs that I wanted, then it gave me the choice as to whether I wanted to use it as a ringtone, alarm, or alert and it was placed accordingly after I finished.

There is also another way by manually moving the tone around by going into system/media/etc and placing the tone that you want, but it's a pain in the rear and only works if you have root access.
