I am not sure how this is happening, however, my custome ringtone frequently changes to some other short stock ringtone. I discovered that if I shut the Inc off and turn it back on, my custom ringtone returns.
Anybody know what is causing this and how it can be stopped?

Did you use the stock app to trim your ringtone? If so, then it's probably not in the correct location. Copy the file to /media/audio/ringtones on your sd card and you should be good to go.
I purchased and downloaded the ringtone. It was working. I will try to find it and then copy it to the locacation you suggest. Hopefully that will help.
