Root Ringtone crashing problem

Burns11

Newbie
I moved from a Droid to a Droid X, using Titanium Backup to move apps and data. All is fine except ringtones. Trying to change ringtones using android system causes the phone to reboot. Trying to change them with Handcent crashes Handcent. Trying to look at them with Ringdroid causes all ringtones to say "error reading file".

This is from a fresh restore to .605.

Moving non-system apps and data is fine. Moving system apps and data is a nono. They have different systems, so the system data is going to be incompatible. Probably the best thing to do would be to SBF (see the sticky on how to do it) and then use TiBu to restore non-system apps and data only.

the ringtones are a system file, so you cannot move them, your best bet is to locate a zip file with the OG Droid ringtones, but i do believe the DX has all of the OG Droid ringtones, and then some new ones

Not really worried about the ringtones, but the old ringtone still worked.

I'm more trying to backup all text messages, I've seen SMS+ but it doesn't restore MMS, what about Handcent? It's a premium feature, but I use Handcent anyway, can Handcent backup SMS/MMS from one phone and transfer to another?

I restored from SBF, rooted, did app restore with Titanium Backup, restored MMS/SMS with Handcent and everything was fine, then it was like something restored those bad settings because ringtones would crash, looking at text messages would crash, etc just like before. Could Backup Assistant or GMail be restoring the bad settings from before?

Edit: I think I figured things out, I restored apps one by one instead of in a batch and there were some Ultimate Droid apps in there that I think were mucking things up.

Dude!, What the hell were you thinking?......shoulda had a V8.....lol.....Just messin with ya buddy. But never try to interchange system data. No good things come of it.
