Help ringtone issue

I have some custom ringtones that I have assigned to people in my contacts list and save them as per standard procedures. I hear the sample ringtone prior to saving the contact. But when the contact calls me, the ringtone reverts back to my default system ringtone. Anyone having this issue or know of a fix? I am just using a standard Galaxy Nexus, no rooting or anything. Thanks.

My OG droid always had a problem doing that as well. Sometimes it would use the custom ringtone i chose for that contact But mostly would revert back to default ringtone. I've setup a custom ringtone for my wife only and so far it's been ok on my SGN.
