Help Ringtones and alarm tunes lost

Lets take a new approach - has anyone experienced an Android that DOES work (by "DOES', let's set a threshhold of, say, 60% functionality). I'm oh-for-eight.

My phone works. 100%. In fact, I haven't owned a phone that hasnt worked. If you'd like to report a bug, I'd suggest contacting motorola on their support page.

In the meantime, lets remember to keep it respectful and be civil toward one another.

So, by "worked", you mean:
Your phone still allows you to select ringtones? Or you haven't tried?
Your phone connects more than 80% of the time to a Bluetooth device? Or you haven't tried?
Your phone crashes fewer than 4x a day? Or you don't turn it on?
Your phone accesses internet > 50% of the time (using the same wifi that your PC uses successfully ~99% of the time)? Or you don't use the web?
Your phone battery lasts longer than 2 hours? Or you leave it plugged in all day?
Your phone responds over 50% of the time when you touch the screen? Or you don't touch the screen?
Your phone never dials numbers on its own? Or you don't use it for calls?
Your phone navigation system crashes less than 50% of the time? Or you don't use navigation?
Your phone allows you to edit a page such as this? Or you don't use your phone for communication?

Just a few metrics to better understand your definition of "works".

I have NONE of the issues you're describing on any of my devices. Sounds to me like you may have gotten a lemon. I'd suggest contacting the manufacturer or your insurance company.

Since this is a replacement, also ask about a lemon policy. Many will give you a different device type altogether if you've had a few bad ones in a row.

90% of these issues came with the new (ice cream) release. Verizon told me that I shouldn't have opted for the opsys upgrade - and that all they'd do is send an identical device. I accepted - and have identical issues. I called again and got the same story.

Admittedly, I push the envelope a bit, attempting to use the full proclaimed functionality. But all of the above issues are normal experiences for me on both Moto's, under IC,so I find it difficult to believe others with my device are skating smoothly.

Eight devices - eight lemons? I don't think so. Android just simply isn't designed for prime-time.

I don't for a moment doubt that you're experiencing the problems you say you are, but they're material for a new topic. Let's keep this one focused on subject of "Ringtones and alarm tunes lost", please.

I've waited six weeks - and received ZERO affirmative replies, do it appears nobody has experienced a working Android of any variety - confirming my experience.

Aside from teeny-boppers who, like, love the, like, graphics on, like, all the video games, I guess consensus is Android sucks.

How do you come to that conclusion. It only means that others find your post uninteresting and are not prepared to reply.
As a notice I have no problems what so ever with my Razr Maxx with 4.1.2 installed in fact it works better than my iPhone 4s.
And Android has not become the #1 phone OS by being sucks.

Well, I was very serious. I needed to find a working phone - need it even more now, since my moto inexplicably - and totally - died yesterday.

I certainly don't need a 4th moto, so I am soliciting suggestions.

As to the ringtone issue which is the subject of this thread, I don't believe there is any solution whatsoever.

My ringtones continually disappeared like raindrops landing on the Sahara.

If you want to address the problems you are having with the Razr I'm sure there are a number of people here who are willing to lend a hand. (Deriding the Razr will simply drive them away.)

If you want to move to a different device try posting what you are looking for in ... Device/Carrier Comparisons - Android Forums ... where there are numerous discussions of device comparisons.

Good luck.

... Thom

Given that there might be others considering a purchase of a Razr, it would be irresponsible of me NOT to deride this worthless paperweight.

Some day you might consider reading the story of The Emperor's New Clothes.
