Help Roadrunner email problems..

That's not true in all cases. I use K-9 Mail to send via RR's SMTP server. In order to use RR's SMTP server, you must authenticate. Some ISP's will block the port for you to send mail, but most don't. Check the box that authentication is required. Put in your whole email address <username>.nc.rr.com in my case, password and you're done. I hope this helps. :)

I signed up here just to thank you for your help. I was having a heck of a time and just couldn't figure it out. The key it seems in my case was to use my full COMPLETE e-mail address in the "user name" field. I've been trying to figure this out for a couple days (probably 2 full hours total!) I kept looking at the information and retyping etc. It was driving me nuts.

So thank you VERY much for your post and helping me out!

We have road runner email and I am unable to set up any of our email accounts on the droid. This is my 1st post on any forum ever... so I am sorry for adding to an already existing thread, but could someone tell me how to find out the "account name" and "real name" road runner is no help. I am unable to set it up and would love some help.

After much frustration with RR tech support and getting some ideas from this discussion thread, I found today (1/16/2011) that the following works for a Motorola Droid Bionic phone in the San Diego (SAN) area:

INCOMING SERVER:
POP mail server
Server: pop-server.san.rr.com
Username: your email user name. Ex: xxxx@san.rr.com
Advanced Settings:
Port: 110
Use secure connection No
Use secure password (TLS): Never (Do NOT use other options: Auto or Always)
Authentication: Authenticated POP (Do NOT use other option: Password)
Verify certificate: No

OUTGOING SERVER:
SMTP server: mobile-smtp.roadrunner.com
Username: your email user name. Ex: xxxx@san.rr.com
Advanced Settings: Port: 25 or 587
Use secure connection: No
Use secure password (TLS): Never (Do NOT use other options: Auto or Always)
Authentication: Auto (Do NOT use other options: None or MD5)
Verify certificate: No

Hope this helps.

Must use mobile-smtp.roadrunner.com port 587 and check box require sign-in and enter email (username) and enter password on your outgoing server settings. This handled my issue of getting emails but not sending emails.

You should check the Roadrunner email server settings such as SMTP AND IMAP. Sometimes incorrect configuration causes email login, send or receive emails problems. So, check this one setting.
