Hi! I've only had my Wildfire for a few weeks and I am new to android phones.. Have taken my phone to Germany and wanted to avoid roaming costs, so I have created a fake account and switched off Internet and mobile networks. But on the top left corner of my phone I keep getting an airplane symbol (airplane mode is switched off!), and when I pull down my task bar, it just says 'Enjoy your trip. You are now roaming'. Does anybody know what that symbol means? Have searched everywhere and can't find it in any of the forums.
Also, I am trying to back up my adress book. Went to the vodafone shop and they said if I just plug the phone in and show it as Disk drive, all the contacts should be there. But they aren't, and I can't see pictures etc either. Tried the HTC Backup software, but that doesn't find my contacts either. Do I have to back up things through a google mail account, or is there an easier option?
It's all a bit alien to me, so if you have an answer, please pretend you are talking to a five year old (whereas they probably know more about smartphones than me...).
Would really appreciate some help.
