Robustness of the back plastic plate

I wouldn't think normal use would make it rattle. It might become loose if you are constantly opening the back and swapping batteries or sd cards.

How robust is that back plastic case if you use the phone for a while without a case?

Does it end up rattling around?

Can't use the phone without the case because the battery would fall out... The black plastic back holds the battery from falling out and protects the innards *somewhat* better than the unltra thin MYLAR they have inside. The BACK itself is pretty tough and flexible, it bends and is about 60% less stiff than a common credit card but stiffer than a plastic report binder. IMHO, I like the direction that Samsung took with the SGII when compared to the iphone 4S, as the 4 and 4S weigh a ton of bricks...

Apple FANBOIs will be quick to point out it a QUALITY of materials that seperate a TOY phone to REAL smartphone, to which I reply, that's the same way APPLE seperates MONEY from the FANBOIs for IOS devices... :D

Seriously, I *LIKE* the light weight and SLIM design of the SGII over the GLASS and METAL case of the iphone... So plastic back wins for me!

The back is actually great, my wife and I have never used a case and have never got a scratch on it or hear any creaks.

I absolutely hated my Incredible for that reason and my Photon. They both would squeak, man it drove me insane.

I believe he is talking about how will the back of the SGII hold up if he doesn't put a case on the phone. Not removing the back off the phone. ;)
