rockchip 292x questions

stinkster

Lurker
I bought a cheap curtis klu tablet (lt7035-j) with no other intentions then to hack it. basically for me its not what it can to, its what I can do to it like a toy.
having said that I have flashed it numerous times finally leading to a soft brick and now have a few questions.
I can still flash it using rkbatch and rkandroidtool. rockusb mode and or mask mode i can always seem to get into and reflash whatever i want as long as the flash is related to that chip. now it wont boot any screen on the tablet. heres a few thoughts i have had and would like to know from the experts if I am correct and some thoughts related.
question and quesses......
the files flashed with rkbatch, what some of them actually do on the tablet.
1. can I assume the loader file is what makes the flash active, bootable?
2. does the parameter file flashed with rkbatch tell the tablet what to boot and how, like the config file for grub or lilo more or less?
3. when flashing an upgrade file using rockchipbatch, are either of those two areas touched normally? (parameter and loader addresses on the flash)
4. the boot file, is that just the boot logo? or is it something completely different.
5. is cwm or factory recovery affected by the parameter file?
6. rock usb mode, i get into it and out of it with key combos. can I assume thats hardware driven? can I kill that flashing the wrong files?
7. I am guessing my biggest issue right now is the parameter file. if my assumption of what that files purpose is, is correct, would anyone agree thats my issue now?
8. can a parameter file be generated using my nand backups?

I can flash images and the tablet reacts in different ways but never a screen. some put it into maskmode, some to rockusb and I have found one that appears to even boot to usb storage after several minutes after flashing. all of which can be put into rockusb mode using hardware keys.
the unit doesnt appear to be dead, just fubared.
any input would be great.
Thanks. sorry for the babbling post, just looking for some clues.

Welcome to Android Forums.

I moved your questions to the forum where tablets are discussed that do not have a dedicated forum.

OK I have done some more homework and have answered a few of my own questions. I intend to start unpacking and repacking some images. I might go buy a second unit just like this new and run the proper commands to find the flash addresses. I do have some more questions though.
1. Why is it when I try and run update images with CPU type rk29 they are rejected by rock chip batch. Error about chip check? Aren't rk29 update images for rk2926 and rk2928 chip sets?
2. If I pack my own update images, can I simply change the scripts from rk29 to rk292x to get rid of the error in question one?
These images I speak of I am sure are for my chip set, its only when chip set type in rock chipbatch is listed as chip type rk29 rather then rk 292x they are rejected and won't flash.
I am more then prepared to short the legs on the chip to force flashing if I totally brick it.
I am convinced the flash isn't using standard addresses on the flash this is why I probably will buy the send unit, to find out. At this point I can't get into adb because USB isn't in debug mode let alone fully booting. My goal is to make a full flash or update for me and others. First thing first, get it back up and running.
Thanks for any replys

supprised nobody has replied. not a complaint but, is this unit so old nobody cares? they are still actively selling units running the same cpu. I have found them called a childs tablet. that can be changed with a proper rom.

a new direction I intend to take is to just flat out jtag it and create my own partition tables for a unit that is supported. might as well, its a toy.
newer units with dual and quad core can have the same done to them.
i have no less then 20 rk292x flashes. 90% are upgrade flashes, 10 % full which can be used with rockchip batch.

I just got to wonder if my interest in this stands alone is all. if my questions cant be answered I get that, if I am the only only one bored enough to do this thats another thing.
can I get any feedback at all?

have found many resources related, esp rom images and what devices run the same chipset.

can you tell I am an old hacker from hu and f cards. g i just dated myself

sorting over every country known to man I would like to post several rom sources with admin approval. of course needing repacked for your units flash addresses providing your chipset is proper.
also several places to cross ref devices running what ever chipset your device runs.
basically allowing you to mod another image to suite yours. clone a clone to say.
it might only be batch files, it might be repacking images and modding scripts to your devices needs. ultimately giving you control.
rom mod batch sounds nice, doesnt it
