Accessories Rocketfish Soft Touch Snap on Case

Does anyone have any better pictures? These Big Foot/ Lockness monster pics do the case no justice!
Here are a couple of full body shots. Sorry they are a little blurry.

I got this case yesterday, it looks really nice on the phone and is quite slim for a case. I modded the car dock, it was pretty easy with the dremmel and sandpaper attachment.

Does anyone have experience using the Rocketfish case with the desktop dock?

Motorola forums have mentioned that a couple people (and by couple, I mean like 2) are having trouble getting the phone, naked, not only in to, but out of this dock.

It does not appear to have a removable plate, but I'm not 100% sure of that. Looks awful tight, but I have not seen any full picture sets to see it from different angles.

I bought two of these today (Red & Blue) for our X's coming on Monday. They are probably going back. Very poor fit and finish. Looks VERY cheap. You can get identical cases on Ebay for less than $5. Not worth $25 IMO. I'm going to get some cheap cases from Ebay until we have more cases to choose from.

It won't fit in the Motorola desktop cradle :( I'll be modifying mine pretty soon to make it fit though lol.

I was planning on getting the Ezestand desktop dock - In fact, I can't think of a reason not to! www.ezestand.com. I emailed Todd to see if they will be coming out with a DX version that allows vertical positioning.

When you mod the motorola dock, will you post pics? thanks :)

I've already ordered a couple of cheap cases from ebay to use until I find something more permanent, but I've noticed many of the cases/skins have fronts that come up near the physical buttons on the front of the phone. This one looks like it does so as well. Does the case make it harder to press the front buttons?

It does feel weird at 1st because the buttons are so close to the case, which I thought would be an issue for me, but because the phone is so big, I found that the way I have to hold it doesn't create an issue as I am pushing them from the "top" vs the "bottom".

That's weird that you say that. I got mine a couple of days ago and I thought the fit seemed perfect! I have a case on my X and it doesn't even feel/look like it. The finish on the case also has a great feel to it. I too have made it so my X (in this case) fits in the car dock. I am actually taking back my desktop dock because it won't fit with the case on it (even though it is VERY thin) and I don't want to have to take the case off of it every night.

Just an update on Rocketfish Soft Touch Snap on Case (got it a few days ago from Best Buy as a temporary solution before I get my other cases from eBay). I keep it in my pocket and take it out while driving, so it doesn't get too much of "sitting down" flex abuse. After a couple of days of the use the snap-on lock at the bottom of the case came apart. The rest of the locks are still intact, but still this $25 case is very poorly designed for a typical "pocket" use. Just my experience or maybe bad quality case that I got. I was planning to take it back to BB anyway, at least now I have a legitimate reason :)

I have this exact same problem, bottom lock came loose. I'm waiting for the inocase surface to see if its about the same dimensions as this case, in the meantime I very carefully CA glued the case together with a tiny drop of glue, this should hold it and still be able to take apart and not harm, the phone.

Today, I am a happy man. While I take great care to handle my phone with great care, this does not apply to my 4 year old. While hopped up on oxycotton candy and candy in it's greatest sugar form (town's annual 2 hour parade and festival), he knocked the phone out of my hand while in animated fashion showing another 4 year old where he got his "carnival toys".

Phone dropped about 4 ft onto the street and other than scratches to the case, the phone was protected. Amen for cases.

I recently got the Body Glove case from VZW. Any idea how they compare bulk--wise? I like the BG case but if I could find something a little thinner I may be happier. I don't use the belt clip so that's not a reason to keep the BG one.

Thanks

I really wish they would update the backing of the case to fit the final build of the X. I know it's minor, but I can't stand the speaker cut-out area.

I bought the Rocketfish from BB in dark blue after trying many in the VZW store and love it! The feel and slim form fit is perfect!

I matched it up with the slide in holster half of VZW's black holster/case combo and it works very well.

If you're planning on getting the extended battery from Verizon, the case will not fit with the new battery door it comes with.

The new door adds just enough bulk that the sides don't snap. I've read that the original door can still be used but that it just takes a little bit more force to shut it. I personally don't want to 'force' anything on my phone, so I'm using the new door.

Here's a pic of me trying to snap the side closed:

The new door adds about 1mm thickness to the back:

Try checking it out with no door at all, just the Rocketfish cover. That should work just fine, right?

Yes, with no door at all it definitely fits.

On a related note, I did manage to get the original door to fit. It takes a little persuasion, but it does slide up and closes.

I have this case and the extended battery with the cover. I had no problem using this case with with the extended battery and cover. It fits perfect and i have taken it on and off several times to use with my media dock. So again this case does fit with the extended cover and battery. I have the seidio innocase combo coming today or tomorrow. I hope that fits as well. Hope this helps and clears up some questions.
