Root Rogers Captivate and Rooting and Flashing

hi all,
I have been doing alot of reading about rooting and flashing custom roms. My question is should I use z4root or superoneclick? My phone came with stock 2.2 froyo so can I flash directly from that? and finally i am looking to speed up my phone so what is the best rom for that that will work on the rogers captivate? and if someone can point me in the direction of a step by step flashing for the rogers captivate?...

Thanks to all
Matt

Hey Matty,

I tried z4root on my rogers captivate running 2.2 and it did not work. I used superoneclick and it work great. Also do the one click lag fix.

Good luck!

for a newbie like me is it really hard? i live on the east coast of cda and i too have a captivate from rogers. my phone is laggy and with 2.2 stock i find it getting locked up too often...freezing for a bit then suddenly it finally does what button i was hitting...driving me nuts....want to try this stuff...not sure though did you back up too? hear all the time to do that before not that i know how.

Hey first of all I was in the same thing as you I had the rogers phone, but anyway I got my phone flashed and everything, If you want some help just send a pm :D

No i did not back up before i did the root. It only took less than a minute. The one click lag fix works good but there is still some lagging. I'm not sure if there is a way to fix it. I have not tried re flashing the phone yet but i know for sure you have to back your phone up before you re flash to a new rom. I have not done any reading on how to flash a new rom but some of them run real smooth from what i have read.

Hey Sarius24,

I would be interested in a little help or advice on flashing new and different rom,s. I believe serendipity is a smooth running rom. What rom are you running?
