Rogers Dream 1.6 Update

Gentlemen, Try living a small town in Texas & stuck with a Roger's Magic
on a tiny carrier that was leftover when AT&T bought Cellular one. When I purchased the phone from solutions on the go they said best phone on the market for U.S. Any options\ideas greatley appreciated

We should post links/summaries of these various articles we find in the two blogs and the FB page we have, as well as retweet links to them.

So far we have:

lewisonline.ca Blog Archive Rogers Android Getting Left Behind?

Rogers still mum on Android 1.6 Update issue

Rogers & Android: When the Carrier is the Bottleneck | Jesse Hirsh

Dear Rogers: When Will Android Users Get 1.6 and 2.0 Updates? | Android in Canada Blog

And we can have Andy's Blog and GBD's blog link back and forth. These will all help drive up search returns on Google.

Wow, sorry to hear that. How big are they? Any luck you can convince them to get the update? Here Rogers is a national carrier, so pretty big. I don't know if it would be easier to convince a small carrier though.

You might want to wait to see if the mythical Google Nexus One is just a new dev phone, or in fact a new Google phone sold directly to consumers.

Thanks! top phone on their market is still a Blackberry. Should have seen
the looks on their faces when I told them I needed APN settings for a android phone.

Actually took down the APN setting's of my Pharos Traveler 138 before
I sent it back for repairs & UPS lost it. That's how i ended up with the
great magic. Works ok just so much more that can be done with the upgrade!

Added the links to the I Want My One-Point-Six blog

Ok, good stuff. I don't have a popular site or anything as it's mostly used for friends/family and people from my SMF forums project. Figured it can't hurt though :)

Perhaps their forums were hacked to run something malicious on load. Even when I go to their main page, Firefox blocks it.

People running IE probably shouldn't go there until/unless it is fixed.

You should see the big red screen you get when hitting the site with Chrome. I'm going to remove the link from the blog until their site is no longer showing as containing malware.

Just got off the phone with Therese from the OotP. What she told me fits in with what Sherri and Ethan had said previously, that they will be getting the update for testing and evaluation at the end of December or beginning of January and releasing it after some testing and evaluation. She got that information from their Tier 2 technical support.

She is going to speak to Mary Freeman to see where her information came from as she understands the importance of consistent information. I will let you know what I hear back from her.

I have also sent her a link to this thread, specifically to one of mjschmidt's posts summing up the thread.

Good to hear some consistency. Now we just have to wait till tomorrow for Brian to get back to us.

Not sure how to add it to Digg but I did add this forum to StumleUpon...that usually helps to get a lot of hits. :D

Anyone copied the links of the petition and forum on xda-dev Magic/Dream section ? This should also bring us a few hits and keep a crowd of new users in synch about their Rogers 1.6 update.

Cool! Someone did that 5 days ago! Was that someone here? I just dug it (is that the correct term?) using my FB account.

Hmm.. early this aft I had some trouble getting the forum to load, as in... it woudn't. I'm planning to save ever page of this thread so we have a backup of some sort, does anyone else want to do the same? at the very least, make copies of your own posts?

I'm a early adopter of the HTC Magic(first day actually) and I too was told that Android would be receiving regular updates due to its open source OS. I've been following this thread and others for the last week or so when I came upon this article today, I thought some of you might be interested.

While that's the same thing Sherry from the OotP told me, Mary from the OotP told Andy2010 they were testing it right now, so... take it with a grain of salt, since they can't seem to get their answers straight, and when I asked them about this, they didn't "correct" Mary's version, they just gave me the line about how they were looking into the update.
checks in the mail!
