[ROM] 1.6 w/root, barnacle wifi tether and take5 Final | Behold 2

No dice. Still force closing phone and call log. I tried downloading ROM Manager and fixing permissions and that didn't do a thing. I've actually tried doing that twice. With the reboots when it said and whatnot. adb continues to say "device not found," as it has for the last month. But bless you for the new keyboard and how outrageously fast it is--I KNEW my phone was capable of this. Unfortunately having a phone that won't make calls is kind of useless. If all else fails, what is my last resort? I can't have non-bricked-but-really-bricked my phone.

@DarkForest, The computer I did work on doesnt work anymore and I was an idiot and didnt have a back-up.

@baramov I believe that its phone and contacts, though if its another bh2 rom you may get some f/cs

To anyone who still has a bh2, Eugene/BH_Man is working on a few things for you guys, when it is released I recommend that you switch over.

Hello guys (and gals?).

First off I apologize if this has been answered somewhere already. I had a quick look and could not find exact issue or an answer.

I am trying to flash the ROM onto my Behold 2 (yeah still using it). However I have some troubles with ODIN.

As far as I understood flashing process would go something like:

1. Install the Samsung Drivers onto the PC (http://www.junefabrics.com/bin2/SamsungUsbBehold.zip)
2. Load the ODIN
3. Under Select OPS choose the Behold2.ops file
4. Click on the PDA button and choose the final.tar.md5
5. Turn off the phone
6. Press and hold Volume down, Call and Power buttons
7. Plug the phone to the USB port and wait for windows to detect the device
8. Click Start in ODIN and wait until flashing is done

Sounds simple enough but in my case when the phone is powered on ODIN can see the device (by powered on I mean booted up not in the recovery/download mode). As soon as I turn the phone off and do the recovery mode, once the little triangle with ! mark is shown the windows and ODIN no longer see the android device (With Samsung Modem, ADB and all the other stuff) and only detects "USB Mass Storage". ODIN does not see the phone in this mode so clicking on the start button comes up with the "Please connect phones!!" message.

Am I doing something wrong? Am I missing an important step, maybe in configuring the phone or something?

Additional information:

OS: Windows XP Professional
Device: Behold 2 running the Samsung's Android 1.6 release

Again, I apologize if I missed the answer in the search, I have noticed a few people that had similar issues (device not showing up in ODIN) however they usually forgot to install drivers, which I have installed. I have used the Android SDK (adb.exe to be exact) to install AppManager onto the phone while making sure that drivers needed are working. But as I've noted, as soon as phone is put into the download mode (Volume down + Call + Power) it is no longer detected by ODIN (with an exception of only Windows detecting an USB Mass Storage), once the phone is powered up and booted to the home screen it is detected just fine in both Windows and ODIN.

SOLVED: Ok, my assumption was that by OK (in the instructions) it was meant the Green SEND button. Of course holding Vol down send + power puts mode into recovery mode not download mode. The correct way to do this is hold Volume Down, the round button in the center of he D-pad and power. DUH! :P

when i try to flash this everything goes smooth until the phone reboots and then after the glowing samsung letters it just goes black and i cant do anything to change it except pull the battery and do it again any ideas?

Okay, I don't even know if you still check this thread anymore bearsfan85, I know a lot of support has left these phones...

But I had to register just to give you my thanks. I have suffered with the ota 1.6 version of android since I got the phone maybe 6 months ago. I hated how slow it was but didn't want to have to buy another phone. I read stuff about rooting and flashing but figured all that was way above me...lol...and it is for the most part...

Well I sat down today and spent a few hours figuring this stuff out. Finally found a computer in the closet that would actually communicate with this damn phone (my main with win 7 64bit does not) and from there struggled with Odin and rooting and all that crap...but finally got your rom successfully flashed in less than five minutes.

Aside from all that unrelated junk I had to go through beforehand, getting your rom installed was incredibly simple and easy...phone is faster than ever and everything seems to work properly. Thanks for letting me get less stressful use out of a phone I was about to throw through a wall.

@boro, win 7 64 bit is a pain, I did everything either on a virtual machine or 32 bit. Glad to hear that you are liking the phone. Its sad what has happened to the phone and I wish I still had to phone to work on.

@temp yes you can flash over take 5

@jdroid try to odin back to stock 1.6 then try to reflash this.

Sorry I didnt respond quickly, I have been busy with a bunch of stuff.

I am really grateful to this community and the hard work they do. I've used multiple rom's for multiple months off of this one community and they are all great. I recently switched to this rom and for whatever reason my periodic notification isn't working. I'll get a message or whatever, it'll vibrate/sound notify the first time and never do it again, despite having it set to do it periodically. On a maybe related note, my snooze on the alarm isn't working either. Thanks for the help.

Edit*
I found a work around for the notification issue in Handcent SMS but the snooze isn't working still. No idea if its related.

Hey a thanks to bearsfan85 for your work with this rom, and an even bigger thanks for popping into this thread from time to time with continuing support! Very cool.

I moved over to your Rom from Take5 - I love having persistent root, no more FC's :) and good stability.

I'd desperately like to have app2sd. I realise bears is no longer dev'ing this as doesn't own a BH2 but wondering:

Is BH_MAN's http://androidforums.com/behold-2-all-things-root/56554-how-a2sd-galaxy-behold-2-roms.html compatible with this ROM? I assume not.

Is anyone aware of an App2SD rom for BH2 which provides the same stability & functionality of bears rom? I've briefly read of the new ext2 roms but am finding limited information on their functionality. I don't want to go Galaxy as I need vibrate.

Thanks again
