[ROM] aospCMod | AOSP 2.3.4 / CM7 (Gingerbread) [05/23/11]

I just installed the rom and I'm getting really bad signal. Anybody else experience worse signal than before with this rom?

At my desk at work I don't have great signal, but it's never low enough to make the connection drop completely. This morning with CM 6.1 it was fine. I installed this rom and now I can't get any signal or network connection unless I hold it way up in the air. :(

Do you have the latest radio baseband flashed to your Sprint HTC Hero? Quite a few people saw significant improvements in signal strength after applying that.

Just flash it from recovery and there is no need to wipe anything: New_Radio-Basebnd.2.42.02.10.29.zip - 4shared.com - online file sharing and storage - download .

Also make sure to update your PRL if you havn't already done so. This can be done by flashing a Sense ROM and selecting update PRL from the settings menu. Remember to Nandroid your current ROM so you can just re-install it. It's also suggested that you keep a Nandroid of a Sense ROM around just to update the PRL.

I am running latest radio and latest PRL with same top notch reception as always with this phone.

Don't know if the radio update (2.42.02.10.29) or the GB rom cleaned up the low bar indications. I upgraded both at the same time.

The Radio would help with your Reception....

I agree, but with Asops Froyo there was always the questionable low bars. A graphics fix existed that I never installed. Now I updated ROM and radio. Signal strength appears better, but if you don't drop calls how do you know?

Post if there has been any improvement on the GPS issues, report your findings so they can be relayed back to AOSP

flashed the update GPS, and Nav seem to work again, won't know for sure till I'm out, and about though

on a sidenote be prepared to lose some memory this one takes up a lot more space

I lost 31mb

Yep why I haven't updated since Feb 6 release, too many issues, and mine is working fine for now, a little lag at times but a Cache and Davlik usually resolves it.

And I would assume that most are loosing memory because they are simply wiping cache and Davlik, I bet if they do a proper wipe including all partitions I bet there memory would not be as bad

you may be right on that, but I don't currently have the time to go through a full wipe install

Today's release is suppose to have some better GPS locking, but I believe it still has issues, but they are getting closer

Is there a gps update? Or are you talking about the 2/18 rom update?

There is a tweak to fix GPS....I did 3 things so not sure which one worked.
Will go back and let you know.

FYI - Large footprint on the 2/18 build is due to Davlik build up.
New release should be out in a few hours to fix...
