But wouldn't you lose the speedtweak script? DT did an AnyKernel version of 3.6 and that killed the speedtweak script, not to mention causing a bunch of boot up issues. And as much as I like SetCPU, having less programs running in the background is more desirable.
 
Every kernel that is released by DT is an anykernel version.

AFAIK you will lose the speedtweak script, I would test it out before posting it anywhere but I think it will be lost, Jackdubl has reported he didn't lose the script with my 3.5.8 version but I don't understand why he didn't lose it.
 
Ok I just d/l Blacksource 2.1 to give it a try. The dev doesnt give much in terms of instructions so I have a few questions:

- right now i have cm7, do i need to wipe data, dalvik, cache when flashing?
- do I need to or should i flash an additional kernel or radio? right now i have imoseyon 3.5.8 flashed

1.Yes. Always wipe data and cache/dalvick cache when flashing a new ROM! (unless otherwise posted, not in this case)
2.If you have an MR2 or higher radio (GB), then you'll be fine. And whenever you flash a new ROM, it automatically comes with a kerel associated with that certain ROM, so if you want to get a new kernel after you flash the new ROM, then flash another kernel :) (just make sure the kernel is usable with the ROM you're currently on)

yes I have an MR2 radio with my current ROM. Will AOSP Imoseyon kernel work with this? I might flash 3.5.8 like I have now because it seems to give me the best batt life?!

Someone else might want to step in and answer his last question because I'm not that up on kernels...But I "think" it should work, since CM7 is an AOSP rom, you currently have an AOSP kernel as well. My guess is yes, but I could be wrong :eek:

Thanks man you've been helpful and I appreciate the honesty. I'm sure the question i asked is dumb and i think we both know the answer to it but I want to be sure before I flash. My noobness causes me to be cautious, especially since the dev doesnt include much info at all in those links.


I want to try blacksource for fun and to see if i improve on my cm7 battery life. So my mr2 radio will work, just wondering about the kernel at this point. imoseyon 3.5.8 has been great and wondering if I can flash with this rom.

yep 3.5.8 will work with this rom. many peple here run that kernel with every aosp rom they use.:)

best disease around lol....

id say stick with the stock kernel for blacksource for a day or so see how it works for u.... tiamat mecha 1.1.3. there's a reason they put it in there!

Alright will do. Never used tiamat mecha before. Do i have to run a script for it to change under/over volt settings? Or just leave as is?

Tiamat has vipermod built in--they are sort of part of the same group. I think they even share a server. You can use incredicontrol, too. They are less automated than Imo's speedtweak, but they allow full control of the voltage for evert clockspeed slot. Beware: Tiamat has a TON of clockspeed slots, and all it takes is a little bit too much undervolt in one slot for a freeze up.

You can use the standard CM7 (or whatever DT calls them these days) settings to overclock and choose your governor.
 
Thanks. Yeah, I had to switch to that and Skype works great. In fact, the whole rom is great. Only let down is I got WAY better battery life on black than on anything else.

yea by daily driver is a slightly older version that my phone seems to love for some reason...

haven't been tempted to flash much new in a while... runs like butter
 
You got me curious now. I flashed the lean kernel with 184 instead of the lean kernel that came with the rom to try and better the life.

Say, I've asked this elsewhere but haven't gotten an answer: is there a way to download the modpacks for this rom anymore. I have burnignition from way back, but was trying to get whiteout as well. Doesn't seem to be a way to get those anymore.
