Root [ROM] CM 10.1 preview

Is this the same as 20130218 unofficial?

That doesn't really make sense .. There is one official build and many unofficial builds.

But to answer directly, this is straight CM code from the date shown in the OP. It's just about as close to an official CM nightly as you can get, except for the lack of term and vim.

Sorry, I mean is there any difference between this and the b4 in the other thread?

The OP has a section on that. Off the top of my head:

No auto wipe script.
No over clock.
Different USB compositions.

I think that's about all.
The rest, in theory, is just code rearranging.

Getting a big battery drain here as well...sent 2 texts in about 25 sec and droped 4%. Even when I let my phone sit untouched it loses a lot of battery. Everything else is great! I have even noticed some improved app compatibility with instagram and a few others. Thanks for all the hard work!!

I was getting an insane battery drain the other day as well. I cab flashed and clean installed to fix a GPS issue and my drain doesn't seem nearly as bad. Not seeing much in better battery stats either.

On a side note. Does power off reboot anyone else's phone? Reboot -p in a terminal also reboots the phone instead of powering it off.

Sent from my VS920 4G using Tapatalk 2

Scratch this.

It appears to be an issue with the baked in busybox. Updating to Busybox 1.21.0 corrected both portions of this issue.

Sorry for the pedantic question, but are you running the Facebook app? If so, get rid of it and watch your battery life improve.

I'm not sure that you really have to uninstall the app. If you go into it, you can change the app settings to stop updating in the background and to disable chat (both of the things that make this app suck the battery like its a juicebox).

May be worth trying both of those to see how it goes.

*edit*
Actually, thinking about it. Isn't there a setting to just disable background data phone wide somewhere in the system settings? Could try that as well.

Yea but that kills all background data and most people don't want/need to do that, because other apps don't use it as often. I use juice defender, so my connection is killed when my screen is off, except for a 15 minute push ping.

But frankly, all the fb apps are shit. They constantly run and use a ton of memory. The mobile version of fb in the stock browser is better than the app.

True.

This might explain why my phone's been showing the media manger/download manager as being one of the top 3 battery users even though I wasn't downloading/streaming anything (just found out about the settings in the fbook app today, so not sure if they'll make a difference).

I don't know if turning off notification saves battery life compared to notifications on. When I tried the app, I turned them off a d was still a resource hog. So I deleted it :)

No facebook app. Battery drain is definitely increased on these preview builds vs when I was just on beta 4. Everything else is great!

I can't get my bluetooth headset to connect with this pre4 release. Flashed the beta4 of CM10.1 and bluetooth works. I did a full wipe before flashing either of these. (gots to have my tunes while sitting in the boss's office!)

Just to clarify, can you connect to your BT headset initially but shortly the connection breaks and you can no longer turn BT on or off with the quick settings or the regular settings?

Trying to verify you are having the same problem several of us are having or if it is something different.

:)

This seems to be the same problem I am having. I can get lock on BT early on, then it goes away and is hard to get back.
And put me down for battery drain issues as well. I can verify my batt time is less just sitting thru the day.

Ah this happened to me yesterday, now I know it wasn't just me either.

couldn't get an initial connection. :(

Finally found better battery stats: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1179809

Letting it run now, i'll let you know what's wake locking :)

*edit*

Thinking about it more and more though... The only time I really see excessive battery drain is while I have my phone in airplane mode at work. Being that I work on a boat, and the steel hull isn't conducive to reception I just turn airplane mode on.

Is it possible that something isn't being turned off (wifi/data/cell) in airplane mode causing the crazy drain?

Ok, so I let the phone sit (mostly) with better battery stats.

Turn airplane on for like 5 minutes, downloaded 4 updates in playstore... took like a minute, installed better battery stats. That's pretty much it.

Sat for about 2.5 hours, dropped 22% battery. Better Battery Stats - Pastebin.com

The only thing that really seems to jump out is:
Code:
"wlan_rx_wake" (): 43 m 34 s (2614 s) Cnt:(c/wc/ec)2000/0/2000 25.3%
as a kernel wakelock. But I'm not sure if that's normal.

That's been coming up in discussions for some time. I think I'll take a look at it soon.
