I actually tried that, and it didn't give me an option for a Google account. However, I formatted EVERYTHING twice and reinstalled JUST a5, then gapps, then went back and mounted /data and /system, rebooted, manually installed the latest Play Store, and was able to get things going. Then I called *228 to reset my data and it told me to dial *682 and I had the guy reset my connection. When I got off the phone with him, it didn't say I was roaming but when I pulled my battery to finish the reset (did it too early, I think) and it rebooted, it shows that I'm roaming again. I'm about to pull the battery again and see if the reset worked. As of right now, I go into Play Store and try to update Google Search and Superuser and it immediately tells me I can't, but we'll see what happens when I reboot.

EDIT: Nothing so far, still shows roaming and won't download apps. Says its due to the 492 error. What I don't get is that if Ntelos and Metro PCS run on Sprints towers, why am I showing roaming unless its in the rom itself O.o
 
Alright so here's what I did to try and help you guys:

Install Alpha 2, Install Alpha 5.
Mount System, Install GApps.
Boot Phone.
After booting phone use the *228 to update your PRL.
This should either give you no service or Sprint.
If you get Sprint congratulations lol.
If you have no service, throw your phone onto Airplane Mode for a sec then switch it off.
This should put it on Sprint, apparently Metro uses Sprint towers.
So if your service is Sprint you're good.

For me, *228 tells me to call *682. Either way, putting it into airplane mode and back again removed roaming but I still cant download apps from market :(

Did you properly install GApps?
You have to make sure your system is mounted, and it will unmount the system afterwards.
 
Yeah, I did that, no go. It was when I went back and mounted /data and /system and then rebooted the phone that I was able to keep Play Store from crashing. Either that or because I only installed A5. Not sure at this point, lol.

EDIT: I found an article about the 492 error. Someone said to wipe dalvic cache, cache, and fix permissions and now I get a 923 error O.o

That's exactly why lol.
Format EVERYTHING.
Install A2, then A5.
 
Here is the fix for roaming go to build prop change
ro.telephony.default_network=5 to 1
ro.cdma.home.operator.numeric=31000 to 31166
then go to data/data/ com.androi d.providers.telephony/telephony/databases/telephony.DB
with sqlite editor and delete the netelos apns.

make sure that system is set to r/o or changes will change be undone. When rebooting is complete don't prl update it brought my triangle back though all I did after was reset my status bar and it has not come back. Go to cm settings interface status bar tweaks carrier label type click custom . Click custom carrier label type Metro PCS and no one will be the wiser :). Hope this works for you. Google sqlite editor apk or none of this will work. u also need root explorer.

Edit:
Theme Chooser resets status bar when changing theme so u don't have to full reboot if you do the prl update for whatever reason.

Ok, I did that, now I have Market and all that, but it won't open. Should I manually install Play Store?

EDIT: Jusy kidding, I got it to open after I turned airplane mode on and off, and now I can download apps :)
 
Wouldn't these steps needed to be done first before installing anything?

➯ Boot into ClockWorkMod
➯ Select "advanced"
➯ Select "Partition SD Card"
➯ Choose the size you want the partition to be
➯ Choose swap size "0M"
➯ After its finished press back

Then after I did this...

1. Ran requisite0's kernel/recovery.
2. Rebooted into new recovery.
3. Wiped cache/partition/etc.
4. Installed alpha2
5. Installed alpha5
6. Mounted /system
7. Installed gapps.zip
8. Rebooted

Initial startup took approx. 2 minutes and was in Roaming mode...That worked.


I took someone's advice to just enable and disable airplane mode

I had to update the SU binary...

Started testing stuff... I don't have wifi at the moment but I'm sure it works...

MMS Works!!!! Tested... weird thing was it never worked on any other ROMs I had... (I'm on nTelospcs) THANK YOU! Requiste0 you are the KING!! :D ::beer::

Easytether is working (I'm using it now!)

Data works..

GoogleMarket updated in Google Play with no problems.

I am proud to say, again... Requisite0 you are the MAN! Now I am going hunting for a camera.apk that might work for this phone as well.. just to see if I can be of some sort of assistance.

BIG THANKS AGAIN! You deserve a standing ovation for your hardwork/time and dedication... once my ass gets out the poorhouse, I will be donating something for your earnesty! ;)

I didn't even have to do that, everything just simply worked. Formatted EVERYTHING, reflashed reqs CWM, installed A2, then (without booting) installed A5, mount /system, flash gapps, reboot. Once booted, Market and everything just worked like it was supposed to. Don't know what made this time different, but I'm pleased that MMS works as well as everything else. With a working camera I will be happy as a clam :)
 
lmao i formatted everything but i always end up staying stuck on the android screen for like 5 minutes.. and if i dont format everything it takes less than a minute

Hm, interesting. Well, try formatting the sh*t out of everything, reflash CWM, and go from there, see what happens. Also, don't boot the system after installing A2, just do A5 on top of that, then mount /system and flash gapps

BTW... Apps are downloading fine in the Google Play for me...

Just out of curiousity.. is this actually installing to the ext4? Because when I got to applications under setting I am seeing 41MB used and 154MB fre.. on my prevail I see 193 used and 1.7GB free.. I only formatted the sd ext to the one to like 1024 since there is only a 8gb sd card in her Admire...

Other than that everything is great so far... besides th camera and I am looking into this right now.

I can't get the goo to download the gapps zip.. can't add account to phone.. I want my monster back.. pushed cwm5.0.27.. flashed monste4.. still rebooted to alpha5.. getting error can't read previous log in recovery.. anyone have the gapps.zip on a GOOD link?maybe thatswhere I'm fckin up.. and why doesn't my home. Button take me home? It doesn't do a damn thing..

The reason nTelos works is because I was trying to allow multiple APNs by default, but I found out it has to match the build.prop setting, so it's picking up nTelos by default, and not MetroPCS. This is being addressed in alpha6. Still trying to figure out the camera issue, and updating the kernel/cwm package so you don't have to install alpha2 before alpha6.

@Requisite0 thanks again for adding ntelos... what do I need to change in the build.prop to permanently stop it from going to digital roaming at bootup? Reason why.. I am considering this alpha5 as her daily use because it is the best thing she has had on her phone yet! ;)

E: cant mount cache, cant open previous log.. somethin wrong with the cache file system? i dunno.. reinstalling apn backup, updating su, and reinstalling titanium backup to get all my stuff back n see if my tethering still works.. this has been hell trying to get this running and typing without swype..

Hey Requisite0, is there something going on with the dl links for CWM & Alpha5? Went to pull them and getting a repetitive loop and no dl starting.....
