[ROM] CyanogenMod 11.0 - VILLUMINATI

Ok so less than 1 day and I rooted my S2. Anyway any other issues other than gps? Im iching to try cm11.

Also being new to the S2 im a bit lost on what to do to be able to flash cm11. It says use safe kernel and a ics modem but that doesnt tell me what to use. (Sorry im used to phones that you just flash any rom zip from recovery and everything is done... so help would be great.

I got the gps working now, I'm not sure if it's the toggling that I tend to do, or the fact I left gps on while I was flashing the rom.

I was on hood pope, left gps on then flashed this rom, and gps works now...I also do a 3 toggle of gps, that seems to work.

There is a weird glitch, at least for me, and I've seen it for some others too, even on the stock roms past GB on most ics version, where gps doesn't wanna work right, or at least it takes longer than it should, so I got in a habit of clicking gps 3 times on/off IE: on (1001) off (1002) on (1003) off (1004) on (1005) off (1006) NOTE: the 1001-1007 are the count time so it's not a really fast on/off/on/off thing, it's a slower timed on/of..........then on one last time, then I check the maps to see how long it takes to lock on. This has always seemed to done the trick for some weird reason, dunno why it works but it does, because from what I've tested if I jsut let it sit, it WILL lock on, but it'll take longer......but with the 3 toggles and then on, it seems to trigger something. Odd I know but it works.

First thing I did was boot recovery and clear dalvik cache out so as it wouldn't have a memory of running at all. Rebooted into the system, the apps build, and then I test gps, and bingo it locked on within a matter of a few second, I think no longer than 10 seconds was the max.
I think I traveled locally around 500 miles today in all, I was ALL over the map today in the city, from one end to the other so today was an very ideal test for gps. So I would go one end of town, test, it locked ok, then the next run I would go to the other end of town and test, it worked fine...did this for about a dozen runs or so. On each one I successfully locked on fine on every single one

New update out, suppose ta be 4.4.1.

I'm d/l as I type this

Cool let us know if it makes much difference.

Anybody else having issues with screen rotate? Most of the time when I turn my phone it doesn't flip the screen but does sometimes.

Yeah, that's in some of his roms, not sure if there is a fix or not, it's also in hood pope. I got a locked rotation a lot of times, I'de be watching youtube and tilt it to the side, then once done I tilted it back to normal and it was stuck. Had to toggle rotation lock on and off to get it back.

Also both have wonky 3g lockon.....when I roam around town it seems to not lock on to towers correctly, so while it shows 3g, it doesn't actually have a lock on the tower and there is not really a 3g data connection. Toggling it will re-activeate 3g data again.

I had to move on to another rom. I am currently testing the nightly 14th release.

Only 2 things that keep me from useing the roms, that's gps lock on and volume level.
They all seem to have at least one of those if not both.

so far no ads have gotten thru aside from the I think they call them dynamic ads, and you can't block those, but they are few and far between.....for the majority of the ads though adfree works fine.

To which dynamic ads are you referring?

How are you all doing for battery life on CM11?
Here's screenshots of mine for today. Ran from 100% to 1%.
This is my factory battery.

Actually I can't compare fairly....I bought an extended battery for mine so I get a huge life on mine. Have the Qcell 2400mAh I think it is, and it does me well. I rarely have to worry about plugging in during the coarse of a day, except for the few times I am flashing like a madman during the day, then I get to about 30% and lay off till I can get home to a charger :).

On med to heavy use I can pull anywhere from 8-10 hours, that's leaning on the heavy side though, on a normal basis though I can avg in a day of med/moderate, to slightly heavy usage, (games, net, texting, phone calls, etc...) I can pull around an avg of 10-11 hrs without having to even worry, and that will put me at around I'd say 40% or so, and that's plenty of life left to still do stuff with

Long story to short....I went down somewhere for 2 weeks, and they picked me up. Well i forgot my charging cord so I figured if I'm gonna be here for 2 weeks I'll just use it as an alarm and that's it....I did indeed pull it off....I used it ONLY for an alarm clock at 89% the 1st day, and after 2 weeks of being unplugged, I was still at 17%.......keep in mind this was data/GPS/WiFi/Bluetooth all turned off, and using it as an alarm ONLY....still impressive in my book.

I seem to get the same battery on all roms though doesn't seem to be an issue for me......but as I said I have this extended battery too, so not sure if that makes up the difference or not.

OK I'm looking into a 2450mah battery that supported to fit the stock cover but no moneys ATM for it. I laughed a bit as this is the most powerful phone I've had and has one of the lowest mah batteries I've had.

I have a slim 2520mAh battery (same size as oem) in mmine, andf with me using the app DS battery saver Pro to sleep the phones data connection when I am not using it, I go quite some time between charges. When I am not using my device the DS app only runs 3g/WiFi twice and hour for one minute each to check for messages, and wakes those connections when I am using the device. That really helps me get the most, by not wasting power when not using the deice.

Can you point me in the direction of the battery you have?

DS didn't help me much as my phone rarely goes more than 15-30 minutes without use.

Be careful, do some really good research on the batteries....I found some rated like 3500mAh but they got horrible reviews......I researched mine for like a day or two, so just be very careful and don't get the reviewers input but rely more on the customers input...of coarse filtering out the morons that don't have a clue about stuff :).
I cannot stress enough about researching things....it pays off in the end.

I was going to get a used s3 from ebay, even though they showed 97% positive feed back, I went and read the comments of the actual people, and I backed off, because it was like 30-50 people saying the person never replied, the person sent a bad working phone and never replied back etc..etc... I don't have $200 or even $300 to just throw away like that.
I looked at batteries and got the one with the most positive customer comments overall....your always gonna have those idiots that make stupid comments.....one guy said he bought a phone that was a boost phone, and of corse without knowing or "researching" it was a cdma, also not calling boost to even ask, posted in all caps that not to buy this phone it doesn't work with said service, tmobile I think it was.....well DUH (headslap!) had you 1: called boost 2: research JUST a weee bit, you would have seen boost mobile will not work on gsm network....in the infamous words of homer simpson DOH!!!

There's lots of stupid bs out there. I'm looking at batteries until I get money for one so research is happening. Just trying to fint what others here are using.
I'm wanting to stick to a slim (OEM size) because I want to keep my hybrid case.

DS does the same I don't have to think about it. If I wake the phone, it automatically wakes 3g and WiFi, I don't have it control Bluetooth, but I only use that when I'm in the Cherokee

Yeah I went with Qcell, they seem to hold a fairly good reputation, and price range, not to high priced, but decent quality.

On a small side not.....might update yer sig :).......unless your still on the warp heh

Speaking of....brb LOL!!!!

There we go.....Mines a special addition "Classy" model :tee::party:

I though about the oversize battery, but the extended backplate ruins the look and interferes with many cases. I decided on the extended capacity slim OEM size. I get great life and am now only charging my phone every couple days or so with average use.

Yea I don't want a huge battery again they are impossible to get a good case for. And I already have a nice dual layer case I would like to keep using.

I think they should just make atomic batteries for us. Sure you can't recharge them, but with a run time of 10 years who cares. lol
