Root Rom Development

https://github.com/Team-Osiris

they have a universal tree for the HTC Kingdom device for syncing up as well as some other build projects

I setup a GB build environment and am syncing their device config to it for an attempt at a making a bootable 4G working CM7 rom.

those are outdated, won't work building source

you want these

I have dual boot W8-64bit and Ubuntu 12.1-64bit on an Intel dual-core 2.2GHz with 2GB ram. Not great but it works

jssa would you mind throwing together a quick tutorial on how to setup a build environment for those of us who are trying to get going.

Thanks for pointing in the right direction on the sources for new building.

I can get my environment up im just stuck on how to get the device configs to compile with the source.

its great to see people finally showing some interest in this thread. Best part is, we all seem to be new at it, so it should be a fun learning experience! lol

this is a link to a rooted stock image w/ the boot.img from 2fasts FuZiion rom. I havent been able to get it to install, let alone do anything else. if anyone wants to take a look at it, I'm always open for friendly criticism. lmao

first step, deodex the rom

why not CM9, the jb release has issues with WiMax as HTC never released the drivers for it on the platform.

Im not discouraging your effort but wouldnt it be easier to get a CM9 release working as its an ICS base and we have the drivers for that one?

I put all your sources you listed above into the device tree for AOSP ICS release. Now to run a compile and see what happens.

How much hard drive space do I need for all this? I started a repo sync last night and it filled my ubuntu partition before it finished

I have compiling issues with cm9

i still havent gotten a clean compile, i rebuilt my ubuntu VM and dialed it back to 11.10 instead of 12 and the install and download of the 4.03 AOSP branch was alot smoother than it was on 12. not as many hangups, etc.

welll its probably not the version of ubuntu causing compiling problems, its probably how you have it set up. i've tried 10.04 11.10 and 12.10 with the same results, only difference was 12 compiled the fastest

if i could pull the working running ROM off of my phone i would do that. Im running close to 360mb free on ram at all times and its just a desensed ICS sprint release with the buttered toast kernel, every time i pull the config and system files off and use the kitchen to make and sign the zip if doesnt work.

I get errors in the update script about the formatting blocks that i cannot resolve and google is no help either.

Probably a good idea or just run Ubuntu. My cm10 has everything working except camera and 4g. I was messing around with PAC-man rom got it to build bit not boot yet working on it. I get frustrated with one rom so I start fiddling with another. Lol
