Rom flashing and Gingerbread update

Recently I had just rooted and flashed the ThunderRom on my Optimus and it looks pretty nice 8).

I'm worried if doing this would affected my ability to update to Gingerbread. Could I still install the update even though I flashed a rom?

just curious im new to this phone also and havent rooted or flashed yet, is it hard?

it took me awhile to find the usb driver and getting setup with the adb but overall it was kind of complicated and time consuming but it was definitely worth it. I was kind of sketchy about the whole process because i was afraid my phone would brick.
