Root Rom flashing question

So, I am newly rooted. I have been running the GB OTA ROM for a while and it is cool, but I am interested in trying other ROMs.

Do I need to restore to rooted state with Nandroid (and how do you do that), before flashing another ROM?

I may have borked some stuff being a moran and such with my first flash (accidentally doing a factory reset, accidentally backing up my apps instead of restoring them with titanium and such). My phone seems to be fine, but I am interested in exploring cm7....

If you are running a rom, you are in a rooted state, no need to restore to something else.

There is a guide to flashing cm7 in the root sticky.

The trick to getting any rom running stable:

Do a complete wipe manually in clockwork (data, cache, dalvik).
Be EXTREMELY careful what you restore with titanium. I personally only restore apps without data first. I also go through the list of apps which are going to be restored, to make sure titanium isn't going to attempt to restore something it shouldn't (incompatible apps, system apps). I'll then only restore data to apps for which it is absolutely necessary (game progress).

Seriously, I will warn you that flashing CM7 nightlies is addictive. Theeming on Miui and flashing nightlies on CM7 need their own 12 step programs.

Dude, I already taught myself a lesson about drunken phone playing as I accidentally did a factory reset, followed by accidentally backing up my apps with titanium rather than restoring them.
