Root ROM for signal/reception

Does the rom have any influence on the signal/reception?
Or is it purely a supplier thing.

Pep

Kinda.

If you mis match the radio to the RIL, it can have a negative impact on signal/battery life. Because ROMs don't contain a radio, but a RIL, the dev will normally recommend a radio to work with the ROM.

Obviously how close a mast is to your device is going to have the biggest impact on signal reception. However as El P points out the radio (baseband version) your using also has an effect and using a radio without its corresponding RIL file flashed (if your not using the recommended radio for your ROM) is going to exascerbate the signal strength further. However it must be noted that RIL files are only needed on Sense based ROMS (i.e. LeeDrOiD, RCMix3D, Android Revolution) and not AOSP roms such as CyanogenMod.
