Lol all this flashing. Has anyone actually tried using ADB for moving files over?
Mount the system r/w first then use ADB to push files to /system/app or /system/framework
mount -o rw,remount -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock3 /system is the default mount command while in ADB Shell.
Then exit the shell and go to your directory where the new files are and use adb push newfile.apk /system/app or wherever you want it to go.
I never flash themes. I push them over and wipe dalvik cache. Works every time.
Edit: Oh, and I'm using a de-odexed, zipaligned stock ROM with a lot of stuff that I took out and made a theme for. I'd like to use the kernel for the overclocking, but I'm not reflashing an entire ROM just for that.
If anyone's pulled out just the kernel, could you upload it here as a standalone download to be flashed? I could probably do it but I don't have a kitchen on here or even the SDK.

As strange as it sounds, not even that works to get SystemUI.apk to change.

I don't know if it's this ROM or what. Reluctant to try it because of the issues that people are having. I just want to try the kernel. Mine's fast enough as it is, but a little boost couldn't hurt.

lol if i had a single clue on using adb i would do it. i have never once touched it in my life. i guess i need to learn it at some point

That's surprising considering you're one of the more popular themers for the Admire. If you're gonna be in development like this, knowing how to use ADB is almost a must.
I used to make a ROM for the HTC Evo and ADB was my best friend.

Everything runs just fine if you're ok with the stock look, it just doesn't want to completely change when trying to put a new theme on.

Yeah exactly. When I flashed the Stock ROM I'm using, the next thing I did was go to the UOT and make a theme for it. I like blue, not green so most of the elements are blue now.
But, I never had a problem putting the new theme on. It just...worked. Paris is looking into ADB. Maybe he can figure out a way to make the systemui stick. Probably a permissions issue or something.

why are we wasting our time and resources on this. 100 mg oc is not worth it. the old cwm worked and you guys were using you talents to get a better phone. a phone that is not gonna be around very much longer anyway. you guys let some shiney bauble with a lick and a promise stop all your creativity. i think if you all stop chasing the carrot and look up. you will see that when we had 4 or 5 "throm" people producing products and a few honest devs working on their stuff they created their own nitch . look in short the syndicate has got you all, either organize on you own or you will be part of the collective.
now just to prove i personally have no profet or loss in this situation i will
tell you what i've done to one of my admire phones which i am returning back to stock and running my favorite theme on and for now am down grading back to the first CWM.
i loaded stock ++ with the new cwm and oc kernal (nice. smooth but eats battery a lot more than stock) , gapps & su & vending was a must. there is no more resources left on our phones to expaned on without compromize.
if you stop here its a great little phone. just theme it and you'll be happy.
i loaded Oxegen (good work dude) this dumped the apps gapps gave me and had no interface to use, market, download mgr, even filer had been dumped. i liked the throm and would of started to build up my phone on this platform but i got 2 admires one is aways in use and 1 is always being developed, i forseen where this was going and got my own ideas.
So back tracked then unmounted the system and loaded oneof paris's theme, ICS 2.0_1 . it worked on stock++ but upon connection the wifi and wireless icons went back to green instead of blue. i looked around and found my next idea.
i like monster 4 and the beast (can't decide which is best) . looking at my options i decided on monster 4 due to odexing and the time. unmounted system, loaded monster4, touch wiz 1.0, and monster Ics theme update and rebooted, i left it alone came back in 15 minuits. the monster 4 was was loaded with the orginal set up with my blue status bar. i checked operation of the phone, used airplane mode on most things and loaded my wallpaper back and mymonster 4 was back but i bench marked it to see if it all worked and it did. it shows 1104 ms and 900 mg. haven't had a force close or freeze yet. like i said the battery is depleted quicker but thats it.i could get the extended battery but why bother.
so guys think it thru, sharing is why we come to this forum so lets stop
all the bickering and work together. the forum and the phones keep coming.
just my 2 cents...

Just a coupla things that r weird. I loaded stock++ and then rebooted set up all my apps like I want them. Set a picture from Gallery as wallpaper. Then flashed Monster4, Touchwiz1 and Monster4 update. Rebooted and let it stew for about 10-15 minutes.
B4 I flashed monster4 and tw I didn't do a wipe or any of the other resets. When I finally started it up I got the swirling celestial Samsung logo but it also had the stock metro Hello, Hello, Hello audio. Everything looks like its working fine, store, mms,sms all checked out fine.
One other thing though, after rebooting I checked the phone specs and was no longer on 2.3.6 it had reset back to stock 2.3.4 but was still overclocked at 900.

actually nevermind i give up on this it is more trouble than its worth. i just themed phone and contacts tried to flash and same deal doesnt show up. nothing in the system app folder will flash. so i give up on this. i am going to finish it for just plain old deodexed stock rom and everyone should be able to use it on this rom if they want to take the time and pull the apks out of the theme file and replace it themselves or req fixes the problem with the flashing of system/app folder.. so when i finish this it will be posted for just plain old stock rom.

I wonder why cant you flash themes on this rom! maybe Req might know whys since he put this up.
