Root [ROM] Latest OTA Leak

Anyone having problem with Gmail getting force close every time you open it or restart your phone?

"Sorry!
The application Gmail (process com.google.android.gm) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again"

I recently installed the latest rom

Just make sure you never upgrade a 2.x radio version over itself. So doublecheck your baseband version, just to make sure.

See this is what keeps me from applying one of the current 2.2 ROMs. What if when 2.2 actually comes OTA, the radio is slightly different? Plenty of other questions in my mind along those lines, but as I'm new to smartphones in general and just barely utilizing my root capability as it is. I really wish CM6 would be finalized and stable =\

Never mind, clearing the cache and data took care of the problem.

There's always a bigger fish. Sorry, I mean another update in the works. And with each big update (i.e. radio) there's the chance that the loopholes that allow root at all will be closed. I rooted now (well, a month ago) and put my faith in the community of excellent hackers here to keep us supplied with future updates.

Adren,

The one that strips the radio, does it strip it and re-install it, or just strip it and give you a 2.2 Rom without the radio, or did you strip the radio from the ROM?

Would it revert the Hboot. Something in your More PB&J I think changed my HBoot. Before I had the new Radio but the old HBoot somehow so I could always just recover to stock but now I can't. So far I like the stripped versions better because it saves battery without all the Sense junk on it. I run Sense without a lot of the benefits of it because it slows me down and eats battery like a Vampire.

If it is a problem I can always bite the bullet and learn this ADB thing and revert the Hboot myself but I was curious when I saw this post.

Friday you will get a donation I promise, I even cleared it with my wife who doesn't get all this and why I do it if I have to start from scratch with each new Rom. LOL.

EDIT:::::::
By the way this is what I loved about Linux, I can always be tweaking. That is why I want to learn to do more with Android. I was getting bored with the phone finding anything I could do to mess with it without rooting. Finally bit that bullet to get the ability to play more. Sorry had to add an aside. If I ever learn how to do all this stuff I probably won't bother you as much.

Oh and it may not have been yours but I was able to unroot until I installed yours but I also later tried a different Kernel which might have actually messed it up because I was going to go back to stock and then rebuild up to yours and then do a restore so that if anything they did messed up anything that a revert wouldn't fix I would just be done with it. Couldn't do it. I may still follow all the instructions to do that. But I have downloaded some apps that I really don't want to go through all the aggravation of re-downloading between that backup and the Kernel fiasco.

I really need to add to my Knowledge base I stink as a nerd but I am too nerdy not to try. Tips on where to start?

My roms only include /system and /boot (in the way of the kernel only) information. So hboot, recovery, and radio are all unaffected. They are completely untouched and safely ignored.

Does that help answer your question?

Yes. It came from someone else. Which is sad cause up until yesterday I could undo root without extra steps. It is sad cause the other thing turned out to be not only unnecessary but also useless to me and apparently it messed up my Hboot. Oh well. Time to stop avoiding it and learn something new. :D

Thanks for the reply. Digging this one. Downloaded the FrankenFroyo and probably will try it out later today.

Oh and it really isn't that big of a deal just wish it would have been something useful if it was going to take away my easy unroot.
