Root [ROM] 'LightningC' v1.2 [3/14/11]

I made a custom ROM due to the fact of the lack of ROMs for this phone. I think people need some choices so I figured I would give them 1 more choice.

This ROM is based on Android 2.2.1, more specifically getitnowmarketing's 2.2.1 update, thanks man!

To Install this ROM you must have installed the custom recovery, go here to do that: Custom Recovery Vortex/Thunderc-vzw - Android Forums

Once you install the recovery, boot in to it and do the following:
Make an Nandroid Backup: (Nandroid + android.secure)
Wipe: Data/Factory Reset, Dalvik-Cache
Install: LightningC-v1.0.zip (downloaded ZIP that is placed on your SD card)

Known Bugs:

v1.1 broke the Backup Assistant because it requires My Verizon apparently. Bug is in v1.2 also. I will be adding it back but for now just install it from the Market.​
 
Just updated to v1.2.

Thanks for the feedback, and I'm not sure what I can do about a black status bar. Every time I try to edit something to do with themes I can't get the phone to boot up. D:

I noticed a new bug. Read post 2 for more information.
 
Do you mean updating this one? If so, yes. I actually have v1.3 ready and it includes My Verizon to fix the problem with the Backup Assistant. I also made an attempt to try and remove the app that checks for OTA updates in a previous version, but I obviously can't test it because this is the latest OTA version available!

EDIT: I could just click 'Software Update' in About Phone I guess...
 
just got my vortex today downloading now... done

i got a 896 on quadrant
i had 500 on stock

seems snappy will let u know if i have any issues
if u need a tester dont hesitate to hit me up.

I cant mount SD card to PC force closes
not a deal beaker for me as i can do it in recovery just an inconvenience
hope to see that fixed soon
 
There seems to be an issue with Titanium Backup not being able to keep track of when newer apps are installed and need to be backed up.

Also, Titanium Backup cannot see certain installed applications. Under the Breakneck ROM, this wasn't an issue.

Also, with the removal of the stock video player, I can no longer register my device to play DivX movies.

Otherwise, I like the ROM running 2.2.1.

UPDATE: DOH! The issue with Ti Backup was that I forgot to install BusyBox. Installing BusyBox cleared up the issue with not seeing applications installed and also, not finding the correct apps to backup.

Well, now I have another issue. When I select Settings->Connectivity, it spits out this error:

Sorry! The application Settings (process com.android.settings) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again.

Any ideas?

Its broken in this Rom for now. until it is fixed if you want to mount your SD card to your PC do it trough recovery works for me.

What can we expect?
 
Now that bhast's breakneckmod has been blocked (his site is gone too), it appears your ROM is the main player on the block now for the Vortex. Any idea on when 1.3 will be released?

I tried to talk to the people on this site they won't message me back and unlock my post about breakneckmod

So I am not releasing it here anymore do a search on xda

V4 with the 2.2.2 update and GUI mods will be next release in a few days
Web site addy has changed to

I told them what happen about the kernel I put the wrong zimage in the rom
But the admin don't respond back so I gave up I will only release on xda
 
Hey anyone found a good video player to use with this rom? Looking for a good versatile player for phone videos as well as other formats. :) This ROM rocks, btw.
 
this looks like exactly what i want.. how stable is it.. i have a vortex arriving in 2 days (first android phone) and this looks like the answer to most of my issues.
 
If you need someone to help theme i can lend a hand, I'm a DX themer but have a friend or 2 that uses the vortex. so i'll probably be doing something basic and quick to give it a darker look. i can post what i have if i get it releaseable :)
