Root [ROM][Lollipop] Slim-LP for the LG Volt (x5)

No problem, enjoy!

Hi Bro, hope ur doing gd. I just did try to flash this rom, but when I did I got an boot error, said something like boot credential error, not quite sure, so it did not but up once it gets to the LG logo it shows the error then turn off. I really want to try this Rom out.

It's a boot signature error, the boot.img doesn't get packaged into the update zip properly. If you have a TWRP backup of any other CM-based ROM for the Volt, just restore the boot part (not the other parts) and it should boot. I'm in class right now and have errands I have to run today, but tonight I should have a new build up with a working boot.img in it.

I've flashed this and I get:

error Boot certificate verify
[460]
[460] Secure booting error
[460]
[460]Cause, boot certification verify

The current boot image is the one from Cm12.1 I've flashed the boot image from the zip and it still shows this error

Try this one. Don't flash it (it's not flashable whatsoever) just unzip it and get the boot.img.

So far all I have noticed is home button is broken, and I cannot find an advanced reboot option.
But I like it nice and slim
Thanks for the work

I don't believe the button is broken, you just have to apply a shortcut for the button! You can still go to the launcher by pressing it once, but the app switcher won't show up when you long press

To set it go to Settings>Navigation>Hardware Buttons And Enable Custom actions. Here you can set "Long Press" To "Recents" Your problem should be fixed :)

And Advanced Reboot is Under Security And Not Developer Options! Enable it in Security>Advanced Reboot; However I've noticed A problem with Advanced Reboot. when going to "Recovery" it doesn't reboot to recovery, instead it just reboots normally

Alright my friend, try this one. I personally just dumped this one straight from my Volt, so it should work.
How exactly do I get this on my phone? I just installed the ROM now I'm getting that same error.

Figured it out, I wasn't aware of the option to flash img files instead of zip files.

Yeah, it's a screw-up in the build process. It doesn't bump the boot image until after it gets packaged into the update zip, which makes it somewhat ineffective ;)

So far things have been running fairly smooth compared to CM12.1 although it does get a little sluggish now & then but that could just be from FB, FBM or Clean Master. I honestly don't know much about Android or its inner-workings so logcat data is mostly gibberish to me but it seems there are a lot of warnings/errors popping up from things other than gms, if you'd like a copy let me know & I'll get it posted when I have a chance (I'll also need to know what log level you'll need).

I use it mostly for space management/overheating, if you have any recommendations for alternatives I'd be happy to check them out.

Just go to storage then scroll down and click on cache and clear it. Bam, does what CM master can do. Clear your cache every 4 days and you'll be good.
I think CM does a bit of a deeper cleaning than just doing it that way though. I have heard other people saying it's not worth having but it is convenient. How about CCleaner? I've used that for a long time on my PC & it works pretty well, would the Android version be a better alternative to CM?

No. Please don't. Either do my way OR download SD Maid Pro Smaller file, cleans a lot more, doesn't use that much RAM.

Unfortunately I can't afford paid apps atm so I'll just stick to the manual cleaning I suppose. Thanks for the help.

You can use a site that offers them for free. Should you, no. Cause I'm all about supporting developers. But, that is always an option if you plan on buying it down the road.

CM is garbage, save that for another story. Lol

CCleaner works great. Maybe not as good/thorough as PC version, but does what's needed.
I didn't like SD Maid. Actually made my device slower and occasionally it froze up. The app tries to do too many tasks for you. Seems a simpler approach would be more effective.
You can also use Titanium Backup.

I personally do it a-la-carte manual style, once every 2 weeks. Takes a minute or two, but it is comprehensive. Device runs almost as if I did a factory reset. The rest of the time I use CCleaner.
