Root rom manager help

No, it's not an app. It's fairly invisible to the user, except that you should have more internal memory available because most of the apps are actually on your ext partition. Note that if you go into menu->applications->manage apps these will appear to the phone to be in internal memory, not on SD.

Run Titanium Backup and look at the statistics at the bottom of the overview page: that will include the side of your "SD card (A2SD)" partition and how much of that is used. If it's being used, then your A2SD is working. There are other apps, such as "quick system info", which can show you this as well.

Edit: P.S. Yes, it should be automatic.

OK, so I created a partition on my SD card in order to get a2sd. Used the dreaded ROM manager which worked OK, but I only made the partition 512Mb and I think now I want it bigger.

Looking at using Easeus or gparted - both seem OK and Easeus works from Windows which is a bit handier.

Can I change the partition size easily? Will doing so require me to format the card (therefore requiring a backup first) or can it just be done with no fuss?

Appreciate any help, still learning and have a long way to go.

Either way, you're going to have to shrink the FAT32 partitition, delete the EXT partition and recreate one in the space.

resizing the partition may indeed format it.

1) Nandroid backup
2) Backup SD to PC
3) Delete EXT
4) Shrink Fat 32 and format it for good measure
5) Create new EXT in unallocated space
6) Copy SD backup back to SD
7) Nandroid restore

Just run Easeus and it doesn't recognise my SD card as having a partition. Shows a single drive of 14.36Gb.

Now downloading gparted live so will try that and see if it sheds any light on the issue. Pretty sure I have an ext partition as titanium sees it and tells me how much is on it....

How did you mount the card? You can only do it from recovery as android only mounts fat.

Windows can only see fat even if you mount in recovery. Not sure about this app though, but Gparted is my weapon of choice.
