Root Rom Manager Issue

Arando

Lurker
I recently rooted my samsung vibrant with superoneclick. After rooted i downloaded Rom Manager from the market. I have been unable to flash any roms or back-up my current rom. Whenever I backup it asks for a file name and after I hit ok my phone reboots. I have spent most the day trying to figure out the problem as I would like to be able to flash some custom roms onto my vibrant. Any help would be great.

Welcome to the forums. The phone is supposed to reboot, but sounds like you don't have clockwork flashed.... The top option in rom manager is to flash clockwork...do it a few times.

go into settings and check the option to "erase recovery before flashing". I'd try flashing it at least 10 times then, then just chose the reboot into recovery option and see what happens.

I'd seen that suggestion before, only problem is there is no option for that in the settings. And also when flashing the top option, do I click galaxy s vibrant or the vibrantmtd?

I'm thinking that alot of my problem was having the phone still plugged into the computer when I was trying.

Alright, now im frustrated. I have tried everything and still cannot get it it to flash. I press flash clockworkmod recovery and then vibrant(mtd) followed by 2.x. After that a message pops up that says Vibrant(mtd) does not have an officially supported Clockworkmod recovery yet. It says that my current clockwork mod is 2.x.x.x. How do I fix this?

That's just the way it reads. I'm unable to flash or back up from the rom manager app. Whenever I reboot my phone it goes into clockwork recovery which then lets me back up and flash roms from there. I was unable to get anything to work and then was messing with my phone and ended up soft bricking it. I used odin to flash what I assumed was a stock rom and once I did that it allowed me to boot into clockwork recovery with non problems.

Im sorry for all the questions but I am brand new to this. I ran the file abd.exe in the 3e installer. It said running rageagainstthecage and then disapeared. What is my next step after this?

did it say that the installation was completed or succesful? you have to be in debuging mode when installing it. if it was completed try going to recovery and select reinstall packages. i had to click it 2 times before it took me to the clockworkmod. so if it wont work at the first time try doing that a couple of times

It dosn't say either, it just diapears from my computer screen, Im about to give up, I don't know what im doing wrong. I was reading on xda that you have to move some files around on your phones sd is that true?

Ok...so this is exactly what I'm doing. First start the temproot.exe in the 3e recovery zip, it runs and then says success, then I go into recovery mode on my phone and hit reinstall packages. When I do that it says failed to open/mnt/internal_sd/update.zip (no such file or directory)

connect your phone to your computer with usb debugging ON. the just hit the install file. its before the bin folder
