Root Rom manager questions

rushmore

Extreme Android User
1. At what stage do you install Rom manager? Just before installing a 2.2 rom, or before kernel updates as well?

2. When using rom manager, what is it backing up? I thought that when using Unrevoked3, it offer to do a nandroid back-up and then installing Titanium took care of the rest. Is rom manager backup redundant?

Added process steps in note below....

1. Install ROM Manager whenever you want. I would install ROM Manager, then install a 2.2 Rom from there, then install a .32 kernel so that Froyo plays well with your phone.

2. If you're referring to the option that says "Backup data" then it does a full nandroid backup in clockworkmod. I would also do a Titanium because when you boot into your new rom, you can just install all of your apps with Titanium.

I was planning on doing the following:

1. Unrevoked3
2. When Unrevoked is finished and is in recovery, go ahead and make Nandroid BU before rebooting.
3. Reboot normally and install Titanium and back-up apps and data
4. Reboot into recovery and apply Unrevoked Forever
5. Reboot into recovery again and apply 2.15 radio
6. Install Rom Manager
7. Wipe data and cache and then pick 2.2 rom and install
8. Reboot into recovery and install King #2 kernel
9. Reboot normally and reinstall Titanium
10. Reinstall all of my apps in batch (paid version)

Is that about right? BTW, that is quite a bot of process steps in spite of seeming simple. I can see why some are weary.

Well I don't use unrevoked forever because there is no way to go back to S-ON, but from what I understand, you have your steps correct. I know 1-3 are correct and 6-10 are right too, but since I have no experience with forever and the 2.15 radio i can't help to tell you that you are 100% correct

Thanks for the speedy reply. Can you confirm that the Skyraider rom maps the internal 8gb like the stock rom does?

748mb for app storage and 6.6gb for media storage?

Thanks!
