Root ROM Manager Tuturial for noobs like me

I have been looking for a tutorial on how to use ROM Manager and but it was for the Droid. And I want to make sure I know how to use this with the Droid X. Can someone point me in the right direction?

Exactly same way, just when you Flash Clockwork Recovery choose Moto Droid X, other then that I don'y think there is any difference

But do I need the boot strap app to make it all work? I just want to make sure I am not messing up my phone.

Yes, you do need boot strap. You can get it from market or here My Brain Hurts
