Root [ROM] MIUI.us 1.9.23

So how come every time I start up I get a lovely dialog saying
"Move data to SD card
Screenshots and photos will be migrated to the SD card to free up more internal memory"???

The first time it was cute. Silly phone, I don't have screenshots or photos in internal memory to migrate... But you go ahead and do it any way you little ambitious rascal!

But now it is still doing it every time, and it is getting old pretty quick... Any thoughts?

I saw this pop up every time on .19, hit "OK", sure, why not, not sure why but ok... haven't seen it come up on .23 yet though or maybe I just missed it initially and it was a preference that just stuck (did what it was supposed to do, possibly unlike the previous versions). Dunno, I'm learning new little tricks with this ROM every day - So far battery moderate-heavy usage 87%, uptime almost 5 hours.

Camera problem. I just flashed this version of Miui and just happened to need to take some pictures and the camera is not focusing correctly. What happens is I bring up the camera and then on the screen it shows everything focused just perfect, but then when I press the soft button to take the picture the camera seems like it tries to focus and then the screen goes a little blurry and then it snaps the picture and the picture is blurry.

NOTE: Got it fixed by changing the camera resolution.

Yeah, me too. Had to take some quick pictures to email in for a project.

I don't know if this is something the miui test camera patch might fix. May test that out later when I get time.

Does the GB version of Miui not include Theme Manager? I am not seeing it and that was one of the cool features in Miui Froyo.

Giving this a whirl after not touching it since the first FroYo build.

Darkcyber, it most certainly does

I'm on version 1.9.16.1 - Can I just update by going to About Phone in Settings?

Sorry to basically need a walkthrough here but it's been a while since I messed around with my DX and I just wanted to double check a few things (hate sbfing.)

I can install this over any GB based rom? I'm on Apex 2.0 (RC2) and am ready for something new. So I just go into cwr, clear data+ cache, install from the sd? And for restoring from TiBackup, I should be able to restore apps+data without a problem? Or should I just restore apps and no data just to be safe?

Thanks everyone!

Just download the .zip to your phone or PC>phone - make sure you read the requirements on the page where you download the update from, although if your on .16 you shouldn't have any problems. Reboot into CWR and apply the appropriate file, it will do all the work - no data wipe required. It states that it wipes all the cache for you but I did it manually just in case. Reboot, let it adjust a bit then reboot again. Give a full charge and calibrate the battery with any good app on the market.

UPDATE WITH MY EXPERIENCE WITH THIS ROM - the battery life is really really surprising me, after a couple days on this I finally remembered to calibrate it after a good drain/overnight charge and I'm sitting at 50% after moderate-heavy usage all day long, running strong on 13 hours now. Now that's impressive IMHO.

I too am impressed with battery life on the GB version. After the Froyo version being so bad on the battery life, this is a welcome change :)

Agreed. Loved this ROM on FroYo, but I couldn't handle the poor battery life. Now I get to enjoy its polished beauty with good battery life!

IMHO this is the best ROM so far. now there are other great ROMs, but the look and the amount of available/ ease of customization put MIUI over the top:) All the other great ROMs(including CM of course) all still look like basic plain 'ol Android.. just with some flashy icons and colors. This latest update is also running smoother and more stable than the previous builds.

Of course this is based on my main reason for rooting being to make the device look different.. and run faster of course.

Just my $.02

You should only have to install it... the.script will auto wipe dalvik/cache. No data wipe.is needed

On my initial install I kept getting FCs unless I went back into recovery to wipe data and dalvik cache.

Loving this ROM, no more issues and very snappy. :)

So happy I came back to MIUI. This ROM is by far the best thing I have ever seen on my Droid X.

Just saw where DXC said last night that the next update will be build off the new mainline.

Here is what he said:
"Since MIUI4DX is a port, it is based off MIUI for supported devices. Currently, the main supported device from which miui4dx, miui4droid, and miui4droid2 get their base is the Milestone (which is essentially just a Droid with GSM capability, marketed for overseas). Framework made a great recommendation that we pull more from the Defy starting with the next version, since it is newer (faster better stronger). It will take a bit of finesse to switch, but i think it will be well worth it."

I agree with that statement. :D

There a several other nice roms out there but this is my favorite. It is so easy to customize it without having to hunt and peck through everything trying to figure out how to customize it.

Only thing I miss is having a Star Wars based theme. I really loved the R2D2 theme. I found a few for CM7 GB, but they didn't really look that great. Need that R2D2 one ported over to Miui.

You should only have to install it... the.script will auto wipe dalvik/cache. No data wipe.is needed

Script may auto wipe, but once I got everything up and running and Titanium installed, Titanium would not run because it could not obtain root. Had to boot into CMR and wipe dalvik cache and then cache partition to get it to work.

Just came across two annoyances. I still can't get Google Voice to work (enabled 3rd party access) and search defaults to Baidu.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Edit: I figured out the GV issue. 3rd party access needs to be turned off.

I noticed the blurry camera shots too. I downloaded 360 Camera and it works much better, it uses the hard camera button too.

Yeah see what I mean? I'm going to slam this phone with usage today and see if I can even get it to drain in 12 hours, if that's possible. And btw mine isn't overclocked/undervoltaged, just stock (I have launch model and can't get a stable 1.2+GHz out of it anyway).
