Root [ROM][MS870][LOKI] Samurai ROM

Yo GT, was wondering if you had planned on making a dark blue theme for Samurai like you had for Katana. :D
 
And bug report time. Only two.

1. Can't record audio. Be it in the smart voice recorder (causes error code 20) (or any other audio recording app) or the facebook voice message feature (error "unable to record audio") Bit annoying since all my friends can do it, but I can't. Video in the default camcorder app and snapchat work fine though.

2. I can't seem to set ringtone to vibrate, and notification to vibrate. If I set it to silent, it's silent, and if I set it to volume, the volume levels work fine. Reboot ineffective.

bleh. Guess I'll just re download and flash.

EDIT: F'd up the flashing, accidentally wiped everything on the internal storage. lost nova backup and my texts. Ooops.

Same problems though, volume icons not indicative of what's happening, and voice recording is working in the voice app, but not in the facebook app. Which makes it an app problem. But after a reboot, voice is broken in both places again with the same error.

Further testing shows if I try to record voice in facebook messenger, all other sound recording apps break until full phone reboot. Well. I guess that's my answer.
 
I am hoping that someone has some pearls of wisdom for me.
I having been running Samurai v3 for several months. Yesterday my phone shutdown by itself. Upon starting i can read "server problem" or something else. Not sure because it happens so quickly just prior to the LG screen. However it boots okay and all phone operations are fine. But as soon as the screen times out it turns off completely.
I reloaded the Samurai zip following precisely the accepted steps. It worked fine all day till about 6pm this evening, upon using the phone, it timed out and crashed again!

Although im not 100% sure of the POSt screen my thoughts are, the issue is pre ROM loading? Meaning do you think flashing a firmware or something is the route i should take?
What are your opinions for me to attack.......
 
Use the unbrick guide to return your phone back to factory stock. That should fix any issues you are having with your phone.

Make sure it isn't a possible shady app you may have installed. Bad apps can cause adverse behavior like that.

Do you have any idea what error msg i can be seeing? Anythng that has to do with "server"?

There has been no additional apps installed in the last month.
 
Are you sure you're not talking about the bootloader error message that flashes right before the phone boots up? Right before the device boots up there's a bootloader error message that flashes just for a second, that may be what you're seeing.
 
Thx Game theory, i applied the un-brick, re rooted, flashed Samurai v3 again and it solved the crashing when going into screen saver.

There is one thing that this phone now does that it never did before tho.
When it has been off for awhile and i press the power button and unlock the device, i am immediately greeted with a small gui asking how do i want to proceed. My choices are "web browser, and Firefox", and do it once or always. If i tab back i get to my home screen. If i choose a web browser it tries to open up a web page "droidsearchappinfo/".

Does anyone have a clue how to eliminate this every time i open my phone?

Dude your experiencing issues noone else is lol. I don't know what to tell ya. Maybe try removing one of the 2 browsers. Don't know.
 
Just wipe the cashe on both Browsers
Then open the browser you want to use
When it asks again choose Aways.
Then when your sure its working
REBOOT and use root exployer to rename the old unused browsers .apk to .bak
Should work.

I did what you suggested and now what happens is when i unlock the phone it automatically goes to androidresearchapp.info website.

I googled this for androids and found several others with same but no resolutions. It looks like it might be malware coming from windows OS when i connect it via usb and having usb debugging set to on.

I installed numerous apps but all return with nothing detected?

That sucks!

Assuming this is the link for that malware site (androidresearchapp.info). Install Ad-away version 2.8 and run the app and reboot. Then open your /system/etc/hosts file and add the following line then reboot again...

127.0.0.1 androidresearchapp.info

If your lucky, that malware site should be blocked from now on. Other than that I got nothing else for ya lol.

However after doing what you and others suggested i was still getting the same issues going to that website.
The worse part about this was, it would use copious amount of data all day long, and drain my battery in 3-4 hrs.

I thru every program at this problem thinking it was a virus or maleware.

So i thought i would report back just incase someone else is searching for a fix.
It turned out to be an app on my phone "Beautiful Widgets". The funny thing was i had this installed for a few months prior to the problems.
I want to be politically correct in saying that this version i had was "license challenged" :D

So it was removed and went back to the stock translucent weather & clock app from the rom, and all is well again with the world.

This is the first ROM I ever installed, and GameTheory, it's a great one. Thanks for the massive amount of work that must go into it. Installation was a breeze, once I got the CWM figured out, which truly was a pain on this phone.

Just wanted to say thanks and give quick feedback on one minor issue I encountered. If you know how to fix it, I'd love to know.

When I use the built in Calendar and in the menu select "Calendars to Display", the screen that shows me all available calendars has no text. I assume the text color is the same as the background color. Not a big deal but I attached a screenshot so you can see what I'm talking about.
