So now that I have a basic understanding, which would you recomend for someone who wants better batery life, but also wants something stable? Also I think having the option to overclock would be nice.
Thinking I should probly try the less aggressive HAVS kernel first?
Also from what I've read, if I get a HAVS kernel, then I should disable all my setcpu profiles correct? Thanks again for taking the time to help out all the noobs on here!​

It's a bit more on topic. Some of these questions have already been answered there. I've been using SBC netarchy 4.2.1 CFS more aggressive HAVS with myn's RLS5 beta, and it's working fine. If you want to try HAVS, try more aggressive, first, then move to less aggressive if it's not stable. And yes, you should disable setcpu profiles. You can still use setcpu to increase the max to overclock, if you want.

Any reason that you havent tried the 4.2.2 version yet?

Because I used 4.2.1 before trying SBC, and I wanted to compare the two. Beyond that, per the changelog for 4.2.2, there weren't enough changes to bother trying for now. If it's not broken, don't fix it ;).
 
Question: When RLS 5 comes out, will the Warm Updater app update me to that? or is that just for updates within releases?

If you're unsure which one to try give 4.1.9 since its based on the stable build. 4.2.1 and 4.2.2 are beta. But for my phone 4.2.2 worked the best.

Is anyone successfully using this kernel with clockwork mod? I wasn't really planning on unlocking nand and using Amon RA until i had to....
 
Ive used clockwork mod to flash all my kernels. Haven't run into any issues. Clockwork allows u to flash from any folder.
 
ok successfully flashed 4.2.2 more havs, quick question about setcpu, I have disabled all the profiles, and I'm leaving it at the 998 max and 245 min for now, Previously I had disabled the perflock, and checked the "set on boot" box, can I leave this the same? Also my scaling is set to "on demand" is that what I want? Or do I want "smart ass" or "powersave" or somethign else? I have a bunch of new options that were not previously there.. Thanks!!

It's generally a good idea to disable setcpu when switching kernels, then, once you have, open it and select Device Selection under menu. That will pick up the new defaults. There is no need to disable perflock on most other kernels. It's generally already been done. The default for this kernel should change to conservative. I recommend using either that or smartass. Don't bother with ondemand unless you have issues with the other two.
 
Don't automatically assume the latest sbc kernels are the best. I've been running myns rsl4 with the sbc v5 kernel and my evo has never been smoother faster or had better battery life. I've flashed almost every rom out there aside from the newer 3.70 versions and myns with the v5 sbc works the best on my 0003 build. Went to bed at 10pm unplugged woke at 9am and my battery was at 94%. That was with no usage, as how a phone uses battery while being used is subjective to a placebo effect and what you do. Sleeping is the only concrete apples to apples comparison but again it is only how the battery gets used while sleeping. Loving this and I don't see me switching to anything for a long time, at least a week lols

lol, the first thing i did when i installed rls4 was install the coconut font because i couldnt stand the one it came with.

I dont think i care for the gingerbread menu's... i just compared it to the one that i have on my phone now and i like the current one better.
 
Anybody have any problems with the Sprint Hotspot as far as security goes??? The only way I can get the hotspot to work is if I disable security??? I am using a Windows 7 box.

By the way my main broadband has been out for 2 days and the EVO is saving my life. wooohoooooo.

are you in a public place?

it will show you .. if there is any device on it.
so.. you will know.

the security should work. keep testing.. with different devices..
if you can not figure it out.. go see sprint repair center.
 
Question: I remember reading that this ROM allows you to use the Sprint Hotspot for free? Is that true and do I just fire it up or do I have to do something first?
